I'm sure you've all been at a typical boring meeting and started laughing uncontrollably. Well, this topic made me thing of a time we were studying the Greatest Man book. The reader was supposed to read "a manger-fed bull" but instead he said "a manager-fed bull". My husband (Little Drummer Boy) started innocently chuckling (he was picturing a young McDonald's manager being fed right into a bull's mouth)then his laugh became contagious. Within a minute, several people were desperately trying to stifle their laughter. LDB couldn't control it, and had to leave the hall. He got to the back of the hall and let out a high pitched yelp with his hand over his mouth, instantly stirring up the laughter. The book study conductor had to stop in the middle of the study to ask what was so funny. It was one of the few times we actually had fun at a meeting.

Tomfoolery! (Fluffy Stuff, Fluffer Nutters)
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? inok so i just remembered something this morning that made me laugh really hard and it happened about 12 years ago:.
my family were in the field service one saturday morning.. my little brother did nothing if not piss my dad off as much as possible, not sure if it was on purpose or just a personality clash, but anyway.. i'm pretty sure little bro would not get out at a door and was also possibly doing something mischevious, i.e.
drawing funny yet inappropriate comics to entertain himself and his sisters.. so my dad demands that my bro get out.

I'm 3/4 through Joy Castro's "The Truth Book". It's extremely well written. It's also a little painful and heartbreaking to read. I can't imagine living through the abuse that Joy and her brother did. I'm looking forward to finishing the book tonight. I enjoyed meeting her at the book signing, and she said to tell all of you on the forum "Hello!"

"Just don't get too chummy because most of us here are no longer impressed with the Watchtower Society and that could mean 'spiritual shipwreck' for you. "
Honesty-WHAT? Don't get too chummy? Spiritual shipwreck? Huh? I too am no longer impressed with the WTS. That's why I'm EXwiless. I DA'd myself. My ship has been wrecked. I'm not sure what you mean by this.
"BTW, do you have children? .... pets? ...a spouse? ...JW relatives? ... a (GASP) college education? "

If I smell and no one wants to be near me, just say so. Hey maybe there's some sort of cyber-deoderant you could recommend. Or maybe my comments are just so precise and well-worded, there just isn't anything else to say! Ha ha. Just bein' silly on a late Saturday night.

Professional Mental Health Advisors...
by zeroday ini have a cousin who has been an elder for many years.
many times his wife has approached the body of elders seeking marital counseling.
it would appear being a "god" over the family was more important than being a loving spouse.

Woo hoo, LDB. Well put! If I learned anything from being a JW, it would be NOT to judge people's intelligence and self-worth based on their employment choices, size of home, etc. We gave up so much to be JWs: good paying jobs, college opportunities, etc. This is what all JWs are expected to do, to not be materialistic, to be self-sufficient, and to be satisfied with having what is needed, not what is wanted. I guarantee that the lawers, doctors, etc. who provide assistance to the WT society were established in their professions before becoming dubs. Anyway, back to the counseling part, it is true that the elders are not qualified to counsel, but neither are the clergy of any other religion, unless they are counselors by trade. If one wants real help, one should seek PROFESSIONAL help.

2 weeks and still no response to DA letter
by exwitless inok-so, my husband, little drummer boy, and i mailed our da letter 2 weeks ago.
we also sent one other letter to an older woman who was always very kind to us, explaining that we still care for her and to let her know she did nothing to "stumble" us (we knew she would worry about that).
i didn't expect the woman to respond, as she would never "disobey" the organization to contact us.

Our letter said not to call or come to our home, but I really didn't think they would honor that! I'm just not sure what they're doing-are they having elders meetings to decide what to do about us (as if there's anything to do), or will they actually never contact us about this? Share your thoughts, please!
