Ooh, I hated those calls from the cong. secretary at the end of the month asking for my time. He called for at least 6-8 months after I quit turning it in. It got to be rediculous. As though after 6 months of me telling him "none" I was suddenly going to say, "oh, I forgot to turn it in, but I got 20 hours this month."

Did You Donate Contributions To The Hall & Society?
by minimus inmy mom told me that the elders spent a lot of time in the service meeting expressing the need for donations.
they showed that area congregations were even remodeling their halls yet they weren't even covering needed expenses in their own hall for utilities!
within the same pep talk evening, they read a letter from the society thanking them for the congregation's $200 donation!

Unfortunately yes, we donated money. At first, we did. But as time went on and we got poorer and poorer (due to the fact that we were taken advantage of financially by a couple who wanted us to buy their business - long story), we quit donating.
It always irked me when they would read a motion for us to "vote" on using KH money to help pay for 'expenses related to the CO visit'. I never understood it - we drove them in our cars in service, so no gas money needed. We arranged almost every meal for them, so very little money was needed for food. They stayed at the little attached apartment during their visit. Why did we have to "vote" to pay for other expenses every blasted time they came?
It also bothered me a great deal when they would read a letter from the GB stating they needed donations for helping to pay for health insurance for all the CO's and DO's. Meanwhile, at that time LDB and I and our son didn't have any health insurance at all. We couldn't afford it. But did anyone ever offer to help us? Ha ha.

Why is god so angry?
by keyser soze inin reading the scriptures, it is clear that god has some serious anger issues, not to mention insecurities.
how does he deal with anyone who displeases him in the old testament?
he not only kills them, but their children, and their children's children.

I guess it kinda is a "theocratic new year" for LDB and I, because on Sept 10th, we'll celebrate our one year anniversary of being DA'd and being members on this forum.

I hate that term "irregular". Sounds like the elders should be prescribing some ExLax or Metamucil!!

I Was Going To Ask...
by deborahs_song ini was going to ask in the suggestion box if a forum for new posters who still believed in god and the bible could be formed here.
then it dawned on me that most probably the owner of this discussion board and most posters here would be opposed to that idea.. please, be honest.
would you rather those who believed in the bible and believed in the creator did not post here?

No. ALL people are welcome here. As you read the variety of threads, you'll notice there are lots of Christians, lots of athiests, lots of agnostics, and lots of people with other belief systems. There's no need to make a separate "believers" forum, because the discussions here are open to all.

Smell like a jock strap or like a perfumed girl? Shower Soap ?...
by Little Drummer Boy inon the strength that my recent post concerning cheetos went to 3 pages and was referenced in at least 3 other threads, i feel that the time has come to discuss another most important topic: shower soap.. this thread topic most definitely falls under the category of intellectual starvation topics, so you should be forewarned that terry will not approve.
heh...(just funnin' yah terry).
to the point: i here refer to a liquid soap meant to be applied to a wet shower poof and then scrubbed onto the skin.

Don't those little poufs or puffs hold bacteria, skin cells and yuk in them? I have always thought so, and avoided them.
They might hold a little "yuk" in them, but if you rinse it out well and let it air dry between showers, it should be fine. It's probably a good idea to throw them in the washer with your towels once a week or so (but not in the dryer!). I wouldn't worry about bacteria or viruses unless you have an active skin infection, in which case it's a good idea to use a clean washcloth daily until the infection is clear. The washcloths and towels used should be washed with HOT water to kill as much of the bacteria/virus as possible.
I personally hate using washcloths. They don't lather up the soap very well, which means you have to use 3 times the amount you would've used on a pouffy thing.
Besides, think about your hairbrush or comb. It's probably loaded with skin cells and "yuk", but we don't think a thing of using it day after day without sanitizing it.

OK, I must jump in here: I, the wife and grocery buyer, have bought just about every brand of shower soap there is, in all varieties of scent, etc.
Now, keep in mind, I am a dermatology nurse, so I have access to all kinds of sensitive skin products. None of which suit LDB, shower soap connoisseur. I'm at a loss. We've tried Dial, Lever, Ivory, Dove, Aveeno, Free and Clear (a specialty soap free of all perfumes, dyes, lanolin, and other junk people are allergic to) and many more.
Tell me, oh Gods of rich bubbly lather, does a shower soap for LDB exist?
