OK, you twisted my arm:
Now this is for BizzyBee:
please send money!.
i have bills to pay and gas is expensive and it's hard to make ends meet.. simon is in arrears, to the tune of like 10,000 posts.. if i knew this jwd thing wasn't gonna work, i wouldn't have quit my real job.. your financial aid is most appreciated.. your fellow servant,.
bro.
OK, you twisted my arm:
Now this is for BizzyBee:
1. a "shower" as in "baby shower" or "wedding shower" was when a bunch of people got together to take a shower together.
which didn't go over well with me when my mom wanted to go to a shower without my dad.. 2. when my father said to my mom that he was going to marry somebody, as in do there vows or something, i thought he was going to marry somebody else and start another family.
i almost fainted when he told me that he was leaving to go do that.
When I was little, I didn't understand the concept that different TV channels would only advertise for shows on their own channels. I used to get so aggravated when they would play a preview for a show and then say, "Tonight at 9 p.m.". I remember saying, "They never say what channel it's on! How are we supposed to know what channel?" I don't know why my family didn't just explain that to me. I would've understood...
if you're here, it's likely you were once fooled by what the jws believe.. back then, i expect you thought you were smart.
you thought you could tell if you were being lied to.
yet, they got past your mental defenses and sucked you in.. knowing this, how can you be sure your current religious beliefs are true?.
Excellent point, serotonin! I have often expressed similar sentiments about religious beliefs status-post JW.
When I was a "good" and "strong" dub, I felt I knew in my heart that I was doing the right thing, what God wanted me to do, and that he was pleased with the sacrifices I made to do it. I was infinitely sure of it. But now, my faith in faith has crumbled. I'm not looking to fill that "void" anytime soon. I'm not a Christian, I'm not agnostic, I'm not an atheist. I'm just exwitless, plain and simple, and kinda like it that way.
i'm trying to learn it on my own billing mostly medicare and medi-cal.
i don't know where to start.
i'm trying to learn on my own w/out taking classes.
I work in a medical office. I don't deal directly with billing, but I do have quite a bit of knowlege about the process. It is extremely complicated. The rules change all the time, especially with Medicare. This is not something you should be trying to learn on your own without taking classes. May I ask, why do you want to learn it? If it's to get a job in billing, you most definitely need some sort of formal training. Good luck to you!
okay, so i'm talking to my friend on the phone, and i mention to her that i'm going to be asking my pyshiatrist for dexedrine next time i see him.
(i think i mentioned this intention other times, anyway, dexedrine is a brand name for the isolated d-isomer of amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, and it is marketed to treat adhd.
it was actually the first such stimulant to be marketed for this purpose, before ritalin and all the others.
She tells me that a friend of her had given her 4 of the 15mg Extended Release brand name Dexedrine Spansules.
So you got them third-hand. Bad news.
We both met each other in the psych ward
Great that you can support each other emotionally, but you should both know better than anyone the dangers in sharing potent prescription medications like that.
She was really glad to hear that I don't consume cannabis anymore (I used her to get many contacts) since being medicated for my ADHD. She couldn't believe it since I was consuming it everyday for so long
Mincan, you are clearly a person with addictive tendencies. You are in absolutely no position to be trying to self medicate with anything, let alone an amphetamine-type drug given to you by a friend of a friend. Please be careful and let your doctor monitor what you're doing. There are other factors besides interactions that you cannot monitor completely on your own, such as blood pressure, effects on the heart, symptoms of addiction or dependency, etc. You're playing with fire.
are dub bulbs just a little dimmer than the general population?
here's a little highlight from this week's local service meeting that prompts my question.. it's the annual, 20 minute, robotic hand-pumping session conducted by the secretary trying to get everyone all hyped/guilted up for this summer's district convention.
anyway, towards the end of the q&a, there's a paragraph that talks about offering a ride to the elderly/infirm ones in your congo.
What you described was not a question of IQ. It was an example of the meaningless double-talk that is the epitome of the WTS. They say things, then repeat them back in a factual yet convoluted way. The dubs have been conditioned to accept this type of "reasoning". It is the same technique used in the WT study. The paragraph is read, then a question is read, then people answer the question using the exact same wording from the paragraph. Some eqate this technique to brainwashing.
i hope well.
this is a subject i've been wanting to approach for awhile as i've noticed on the board at times there have been wisecracks about janitors who were jehovah's witnesses .
now , hey, i'm real, have a good sense of humor, and can take a joke like anyone, be the brunt of a good joke, hell, i laugh at myself when i work alone at nights- just to keep entertained !
Mr. Flipper - I hear ya. LDB and I owned an office cleaning business for 14 years. We gave up good paying full time jobs with benefits to do it. We thought we would be "pleasing Jehovah" by "simplifying our lives" .
We were scammed, really, into buying another couple's business so they could go on a 4 year long vacation in the Dominican Republic and label themselves as "need greaters" (I HATE that term.) We were young and only dubs for about a year when they started grooming us to fall right into their slimy self-serving plan. So we trusted them, and they got away with a whole heck of a lot of money, and we were left with tremendous debt. The business never made a fraction of what they said it did or would. We literally lived off credit cards for years. We're still in terrible debt because of them. But now that LDB went back to college and got a nice job and I'm working full-time as a nurse, we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
Owning a janitorial business is hard. It's very dirty, physical, and thankless work. No one cares if you spent 20 hours over the weekend waxing the tile floors till their so shiny you could put makeup on in the reflection. No one cares that you had to unclog the toilet (again) and clean up poop-water all over the bathroom because someone thought "oh, the janitors will get that".
Yes, you can make what seems like good money; but there are a lot of expenses. And there are NO benefits. Many people look down on janitors because they assume they couldn't possibly get any other job. And janitors seem to be the first ones blamed if something is missing, broken, etc.
I've definitely learned that janitors deserve respect as much as anyone else. And I'm the first one to come to their defense if they get accused of something at my office.
i haven't left.... 1 thing while i'm actually in is being here though.... i'm happy here.
i actually feel for the first time really "right" about something... .
We went to a book signing by Joy Castro about 5 days after mailing our DA letter. She wrote "The Truth Book". Interesting but sad book about how she was raised as a dub by very abusive parents, and the elders did nothing to help her or her brother.
Man, I was paranoid then. I kept looking over my shoulder for elders to be there spying on people.
.
for those of you who don't know what it is.it's a form of the chicken pox virus.after you get chicken pox as a kid the virus goes dormant in your nerve endings.most people never have any problem again with this virus.some people like me get the shingles.the symptoms include pain in your nerves.a rash that looks like tiny blisters.aches and flu like symptoms.and many others.i am contagious to people who have never had the chicken pox before.especially small children and pregnant women.you can't get the shingles from me but you can get chicken pox from me.. i have this stabbing pain in my back which i thought was a pinched nerve.i also have a thing on my back in the spot where i thought i had the pinched nerve that i thought was a spider bite.the pain is radiating around my side to my right breast.my right breast has been burning for 3 days now, about the same amount of time as i've had this spider bite looking thing on my back.i chalked that up to time of the month.this "spider bite " looking thing is on my right side.i'm having aches and pains like i have the flu.i don't feel good.. i asked my boss's mom to look at this bite thing and see if that was what it was because i've never had a spider bite before but i know they can get infected really bad sometimes.i didn't put 3 and 3 together with the nerve pain and the burning breast and the spider bite thing.the other girl i work with was there and she said it looked to her like shingles.i freaked out because i've had them before but not since i was a kid i was 10 or 11.my boss has 3 little girls i thought might be able to get chicken pox from me through contact with him.
so i called a nurse answer line at the county hospital to see if that could happen.i told the nurse what was happening and what had been suggested to me might be shingles.she told me i needed to get my butt to the doctors in the next 24 hours for anti viral meds.that's the only way to clear this up quickly.otherwise i'll have this for months possibly.the nurse then proceeded to make an appointment for me tomorrow at the next available clinic in there system.she also made an appointment for me to get rated on a sliding scale to pay for this treatment.. stress brings them on so does weakened immune system from illness.i have both right now.i'm sick and i'm overly stressed at the moment.sigh..
It does sound like a pretty typical case of shingles. Sorry you're ill. It can really make you feel run down for awhile. If you have any open sores or blisters that popped, keep them covered with bandages. The shingles themselves usually clear up within 2 weeks on their own, like most viral outbreaks, but taking the anti-viral pills can help lessen the severity and duration of your outbreak. What can (not always) linger for weeks or months is the pain, called post-herpetic neuralgia. The doctor can give you medications for the pain as well. Get better soon!
after an informal poll in my congregation (and many awkward responses) i found out that almost nobody had read the whole bible ever, not even the elders (surprise!).
brothers and sisters with 20, 30, 40 and 50 years as jws don't know what the bible says.
so, if god decides that a test is coming, will they pass it?
Nope, never did. I had good intentions to, though, several times. I even ordered the "Hebrew Scriptures" (old testament) on cassette tape to listen as I read along. Once I got to Leviticus (I think) where it starts listing geneology ad nauseum "so-and-so begat so-and-so...", I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Blah blah blah blah.....
