No one has yet mentioned that he also has 10 children and his elderly parents live with him and his family in a one room straw hut, which he made after he sold his four bedroom suburban home so he could live a simpler life. All profit from that sale went to the WT, of course.

Door to Door Risk Factors?
by Outaservice inif you had, say, a daughter around 11 or 12 years old, would you let her go door to door with a friend also that age?
with all the strange people out there, is the watchtower society contributing to dangerous situations with their manner of preaching?
at least, the mormon's go two by two with young men.. some large cities have apartments up dark stairways and many neighborhoods are not even safe during daylight hours.. outaservice .

I have often thought about safety even amongst adults in service. I don't care for the idea of 2 adult women going door to door. Boys and men are not invincible either. Working apartments always creeped me out because of the thought that some serial killer or rapist could be lurking in dark stairwells, etc. Working in rural areas always made me nervous too.
There are so many risk factors in going door to door, I hope some day the WT gets sued from someone getting hurt. Think about not only meeting up with crazy people, but getting bitten by dogs, suffering heat stroke or frostbite, falling down steep stairs carrying heavy book bags, etc. Oh, the dangers...

Mine is just a Simpsonized version of the real me. Before that, I had a cute little cartoon nurse for an avatar, because I'm a nurse. (By the way, if you really want to see the real me, I'm somewhere on this forum. You just have to find me!)

Excellent topic, changeling. I have often pondered the idea of free will.
It seems quite hypocritical for Jehovah to say "You may do what you want, it's your choice, no problem. Oh, just one thing...If you don't do what I want, I'll kill you at Armageddon. Just a minor detail. Also, you have to guess what it is I really want you to do. I'll give you a rediculously long book of riddles pieced together. See if you can figure it out in time..."
Here's where I'm at with belief in the Bible or God or religion: WTF???

I did it for two hours last night....

i enjoyed the modern music at the beginning of it.
the 'sermon' or message was a discussion of leviticus chapter 3. i found it interesting, but not particularly inspiring.

I just can't buy into the whole cathartic "I just think Jesus gave me an enema! hysteria.
That's hilarious! And welcome to JWD, Prometheus2!
Jeff. It sounds like you're keeping a level head about your spiritual searching. Just a thought-have you ever considered visting a service of a non-christian religion? Such as Buddism, Judaeism, etc. I'm not suggesting you drop your christian leanings, but maybe a completely different perspective would help round out your search for spiritual well-being.

OH, that's so awesome. Congratulations!!! Actually, I'm a little jealous, but not in a bad way. I'm an LPN working on my RN bachelor's degree. It's taking me forever, but I'm going to keep plugging away at it. I hope to pursue my MSN after my bachelor's. I'll probably be 70 by then.
You should be very proud. That's a huge accomplishment.

Going under the knife tomorrow morning :S
by Elsewhere ini'm not a big fan of surgery.
i always exhaust all non-surgical options before doing it.
i know enough about medicine to know that surgery is effectively a controlled injury... and that makes me nervous.

Oh, I feel for you. Little Drummer Boy had that exact surgery several years ago. He felt pretty lousy for the first several days; had to change his dressing under his nose a few times a day, etc. But when he went to get his packing removed around day 4 or 5, he breathed for the first time through cleaned out sinuses and a straight septum. He said his nose felt like a wind tunnel, he almost felt dizzy from being able to breathe so well! It was definitely worth it for him, because he had chronic sinus infections, pain, ear problems, etc. Since his surgery, he's maybe had one or two infections. Amazing difference.
I hope you have someone who can be with you at least for the first day or two. You are really going to need someone to help you out. Please keep us posted. PM me if you want to know anything else.

Seeker4 - maybe some people are conspiring together to go join other forums (?). I know my husband didn't join a new one, but there's been talk of other forums that weren't as "strict" as this one. Just a thought.
