On the other side of the coin, I want to thank you guys for being tolerant of me.hehe I know that since we might not see eye to eye on everything, that there could be the potential for animosity. But you're all to be commended for not letting it happen. Thanks for making me feel welcome...and for not making fun of me just because I'm still active.

Shouldn't you be in the Sunday morning meeting by now, Fred? Any good jw will be there half hour early to greet and stay a half hour late to visit before spending 2.0 hours out in field service. Make sure your shoes are shined and WT underlined.
Sorry waiting, my meeting is at 12:30 this year. I went out in service before that. We even went out to eat with the guest speaker after the meeting. I don't get to do it too often, because usually I have to work. Had a great time.

Y'know, it's kinda funny that that article is older than most of the posters here. How 'bout a more recent one, eh?

There's a few cases of this in my hall, too. One of my best friends has a father that just never got into the truth. But everyone in the knows the family so well, they make sure to invite the father too, which I think is pretty good. I especially liked it when my friend and I shared a graduation party(even though we both hated all the attention), and we got to spend a lot of time together setting up.
Another good friend I have moved here last summer, and we hit it off pretty quick. We had lots of hobbies in tastes in common. After a while, I got to meet her dad, who is inactive. Really nice guy. We ate dinner, and we talked about cool recipies we'd like to try, among other things. I don't know if the father will come back or not, but hey;Now I've got another cool 'rent(teen slang for 'parent.' I hope you appreciate the space I saved by using this abbreviation!lol) to talk to.
Those two cases helped me get better about that, because sometimes it might be hard to remember the people that could especially use some encouragement at a social gathering. If I ever get one together, I'm gona say "Forget all the strong kids! They can stay home and watch tv. All the ones that need encouragement can come over and eat my food!"

What should the WTBS do?!?!
by LDH inwell guys sorry i haven't participated much lately, i've been really busy.
but, i do have a question that i would really appreciate all of your input on.. it is no secret that young people are leaving jws faster and faster.
it is no secret that most jws are disappointed, and hurt by lack of prophecy fulfillment.. so here's what i was thinking: i'm going to post some very personal thoughts on what *i* think they need to do in order to stop the loss of almost 50,000 disfellowshipped and probably 4x that to inactivity.

Hey Englishman, nothing wrong with off-topic!
One of my MS buddies in the hall had a RepliCobra built for him, and spent a fortune on it. Here, the basic kit(minus the engine and late-model Ford Mustang frame) is about $40k, US. He also proceeded to go through two built engines, which I'd estimate at around $10k each. The current engine he's running uses 107 octane racing gas, which is quite expensive and is sold quite a distance from his home. Such a practical vehicle. And to top it off, the interior is very cramped, so he can barely fit inside.
Oh, and hey Larc: Call it a joke.hehe

How do you feel about smacking at K Hall?
by Latte inpersonally, it upsets me very much.
or are there any other parents that found better, alternative ways of getting young children 'trained'?.
i am not anti -smacking by the way,(except at the kh) but it is always the very last resort.. latte

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea, at least in the KH. Most 'rents in my hall were pretty good about whaking the kids. They kinda had a 3 stage contingency:
1. Tell them quietly to stop.
2. Take them in the back, and tell them again.
3. Take them outside, and have at it.
When I was a child, my parents would just wait until we got home. I'm glad we all got to keep our dignity. I wish other parents would keep that in mind. -

Am I welcome here?
by WanderingStar ini am currently df'd but seriously considering returning to the meetings with a view to reinstatement.
i am looking for honest, open minded discussion.

just curious DF, will you be coming back here after youre reinstated, would we be good enough to talk to then?
Since I was never df'd or da'd myself, does that mean that you were never good enough for me to talk to? Just kidding.

Jesus second coming in the first century
by Jr inthis discussion will be quite extensive.
so, i have broken it up in to subtopics.
it will be shared by myself and associates in the faith.

Ummm, Jesus didn't have a second coming in the 1st century, did he? Is this some sort of trick question? Are you saying that maybe after he ascended to heaven while in Jerusalem, he came back down somewhere in Central America to teach the Mayans and Incas, like the Mormons believe?
I'm just confused by the subject title, that's all.
