I noticed on alot of posts there are abbreviations.
eg - bttt
Now...I have spent countless hours trying to figure out what this is an abbreviation of.
I need help!
(I am going top kick myself if it is something simple!!! )

did you refrain from obtaining a degree or advanced studies when you had the chance because it wasn't the witness thing to do?
how has this affected your life?
comments, rants, and personal experiences please.
Yes. I was 'pulled' out of school without even being asked if that was what I wanted. Instead, I had to pioneer (it sucked!) and support myself with useless jobs.
Now I have completed my education, but it is hard to get work here because there are so many young ones here that are cheaper to hire than me. So...we make our own work and have done so for the past 6 years.
My biggest 'annoyance' (for lack of a better word) is that we were never encouraged to put any money into block of land/house etc as we would never need it! And now, at a later stage, it is very hard with no higher education and 'proper' employment, to be able to afford to 'jump in' as house and land prices are so high.
I know that I will never make that mistake with my kids. We have a bank account for them that we put money into every week for their education, because I won't let them get to my age and not be able to support themselves comfortably. I don't care what they decide to do, as long as they are trained in something. And as soon as they are able to, they will be encouraged to put some of their 'earnings' into real estate, as at least by the time they come to retire, they may have a chance of owning their own homes.
(and maybe a granny flat in the back yard for their dear old mum and dad! LOL)
But...that is a looong way off.
i have been lurking for quite some time now on jwd.
my story is pretty much just like everyone else's, "only the names have been changed".
in reading your posts, i have both laughed and cried till tears ran down my cheeks.
First let me say that I think your letter is well thought out and well written. It's just a shame that your sister will never see it.
Secondly, James, what is your problem?
People vent their dissapointment, anger and hurt in may ways.
If it does not affect you personally, then I don't think you have the right to condemn someones actions/words based on your opinion of what is judgemental and self righteous. Unless, of course, they are asking for your opinion.
this seems the epitome of "lacking natural affection".
can you imagine being a parent and not being interested in how your own children are doing?
and what about carrying it even further, having nothing to do with your grandchildren, just because the parents are disfellowshipped?
I was just wondering...is there any legal avenues you can take against jw's for shunning? Doesn't it equate with slander etc?
I know other religions have had this happened and as far as I know, some have won against the churches...but I can't recall them at present.
Does anyone know, or have heard of someone sueing the JW's for this?
what kind of work would you like to do?
just do not consider how much they pay.
I am finally doing what I like for a living.
I draw.
Will never make me rich...but it pays the bills, and I'm happy.

No...I can't imagine anything that my children can/would do that would make me 'shun' them...and then extend that attitude to their children.
My parents have 'shunned' us for the past 3 and a half years, and they have extended that to our children...as a result they have never even seen our last 3. Would not even recognize the 2 they have seen, now. And it's all our 'fault'...if anyone asks them why...they say that we have refused to let them have any contact with them! Totally not true...although now I would not let them within 10 feet of my kids!
My hubby's parents shunning of us is only relatively recent, as we officially 'dissassociated' ourselves 3 weeks ago! But they have limited their association with us for the past 5 years...and this includes the children...even to the extent of only seeing our 'new' addition twice in 4 1\2 months.
And something really strange...at least I thought so...was that when we told brother-in-law we were dissassociating ourselves due to numerous family reasons, he said: "But your childrens photo's are still on their (hubby's parents) walls!" ?????
No doubt they will all be removed now...as they equate religious beliefs with the privilege of gracing their walls!!! Have you ever heard of anything so stupid???
i'll start.. i'm fixin' file' chicken 'n sausage gumbo w/"cajun ice cream," a green salad and cheesy garlic bread.. crabby pants has already begun his "pre-mealtime throat clearings" from the kitchen aromas.. frannie.
I have no idea. I have to be the world's worst cook! Even I won't eat my cooking!
(sigh... I have good intentions, but always manage to *@#$ it up! So it's cheaper for me not to try!)
Lucky for me, my hubby does all the cooking here! I think he's doing a lamb roast.
sorry, i'm sooo bored at the moment...so i thought it was a good idea to post something that would take up 5 minutes!.
i have a collection of books.
robin cook, patricia cornwell, john grisham, dean koontz, richard laymon and stephen king are among my favourites.
Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" and "Emma."
I have these. Both were good, as were the movies.
My favourite shows are comedy shows, such as Kenny v Spenny/Balls of Steel etc. I know it's stupid, but hey...my sense of humour!
I also collect movies like 'The Notebook'...my favourite movie at moment. A real 'box of tissues' movie.

...and we have started collecting the series of Adelaide and Melbourne Grand Prix Ports and programs. We have about half at present.
my vent: people who put words in your mouth.
quoting you as saying something you never said or is taken out of context..
People who go to the meetings and put a show on, then come here and bash what they themselves are involved in. Sorta hypocritical, why not just be who you are around everyone? Why not be true to themselves?
Careful now...last time I started a thread on this very topic...I got trashed!!!
