okay ... so my experience thread set the stage for what seems to be a need to debate catholicism ... maybe because in the minds of many, there is a comparison to the watchtower ... a comparison which i believe is false.

if (for the sake of argument for those who believe in god) there was no god, and no human being who ever lived had ever come up with or even had a concept of god or a higher being.

where do you think we as human beings would be today.

what do you think our history would be like, and our future?

The way I see it is god(s) is mankinds imaginary friend(s) and if we don't out grow it then we don't deserve to advance.

Is Jesus becoming less relevant - even to Christians?

one thing many jw's could do was quote jesus, although whether or not they lived up to the so-called 'christian ideal' is questioned by most of us.

conversely, many others who call themselves christians are much nicer people!

they love, they are generous, charitable and willing to give - but they are unlikely to be as familiar as we are with the details of jesus life and ministry as recorded in the bible.. i don't have a problem with that, it's what people do that matters!.

It seems to me that most squabbling Christians have made my point for me. Jesus is important, he is a potent figure and a central totem of the Christian faith but among his followers he seems to be losing the battle for relevance to the label makers and definers of Christianity

the clips i saw only gives a very "positive" biased message for jws, not the through & through facts.. pbs will be showing this in may.

The Knocking documentary claims complete neutrality, that is one of the persuasive arguments of the video. The problem is that the director's mother is a witness. So you can immediately throw into suspicion the idea of the video being neutral.
