By the way Terry Mortenson is said to have a PhD. in the history of geology, that doesn't mean he holds a PhD. geological earth sciences.
His personal endeavor in becoming a devout Christian occured prior to obtaining this supposed degree.
In other words he was predispositioned to oppose modern acquired geological earth sciences.

There are so many flavors of gods its just a matter of picking one and making sure you stay with others who've picked the same as you.
This battle of idealistic flavors has continued since man's beginning tribalism and still continues to this day unfortunately.
Why has it this happen when there is no tangible evidence of a god or gods ?

That might come from your own inner belief in yourself and your subconscious awareness of what you are eating.

Atheism is further acceptance of reality as apposed to theism which is further acceptance of human ignorance.
When theism creates religion, perilous trouble usually occurs by the action of connecting that spiritual power on to men.
Don't believe me take a long observable look of the history of religious theistic beliefs as far back as possible in mankind's existence ..

Another way to look at it is that atheism has the same advantage that skepticism generally does. When we refrain from
adopting beliefs and accepting claims which lack adequate support, it is less likely that we will be cheated, tricked,
or made fools of. It’s no guarantee, but it is a good method for maintaining intellectual and personal integrity and for
preventing religious hucksters from taking advantage of us.

If ones spirituality is derived from religious teachings alone than that person has created their own wrongful self delusions.
