i'm trying to compile a list of j-dub beliefs that are not solidlysupported by scripture - examples: abstaining from wearing beards, "door-to-door" witnessing, hierarchical authority structure.... can you guys help me out with some that stand out to you?.

despite being an open atheist amongst lots of religious people in my life, i have never been accused of doing this and i have never heard this saying attributed to my choice... appart from here.. i thought it would be best to clarify why i (and i assume others) decided to leave the bible behind after leaving the wt society.. realising the wt society was wrong desroyed my world, for me it meant so much.
i had given so much to it too, it just had to be true!
I'm no apologist for the WTBTS. But I've noticed a trend among SOME on this forum to take the position that, "If the WT taught it, it is wrong!"
I'm personally not of that opinion, for example their doctrine of not worshiping graven images, namely the cross, like some religions of Christendom do.
The hell doctrine, December 25 being Christ's day of birth and so on.

Not EVERYTHING they taught is wrong.
There are valuable appreciative aspects in all religious faiths once you look inwardly at them as a whole.
Of course they (JWS) have got some things right over religious faiths as well they've got some things wrong, that goes without
saying. Thats has to be acknowledged and accepted in all religious organizations.
Since religions are guided and structured by men alone is this surprising, not really.

Bad analogy, more like throwing out human ignorance which is structured around past ignorances, in a effort to improve upon the human experience.
The reason most atheists are endeared to self describe themselves as humanists.
i'm trying to get my head around a basic overview of how the jehovah's witnesses understand the narrative flow of scripture and their own history within that.
to me this provides a good general framework from which most of their theology flows.
this is a brief sketch that i have done off the top of my head.
How do the Jehovah's Witnesses understand the narrative of the Bible/themselves?
Through the corrupt maligning misinformation they are taught by the WTS. corporation's editorial writers.
Unfortunately this corruption is passed on from one group of men to another as a means of sustainability.
In other words lies evolving into other lies, transcribed through published works.

Its quite obvious to many who've been in contact with JWS either at their door or by practiced JWS, that this organization is founded on false bible
interpretations, expressed and exploited for commercial purposes by a publishing company. (WTS.)
They promoted fear and hysteria through the organization's publications which speared some people to join the organization's
agenda in circulating the organization's published works. Today many of the organization's once devoted adherents have woken up to this fact
and are trying to tell public what they have learned as a compassionate warning to others.
