by InterestedOne ini've heard people here say jw's believe that jehovah will slaughter non-members of the jw religion when armageddon comes any day now.
does the watchtower teach that jehovah himself will do the killing, or is it delegated to someone else like jesus, satan, angels, or humans killing each other?
who is the actual killer in the picture?

I think he was a consummate plagiarist and self publicist, lacking in education in his chosen field of Theology.
If Russell didn't accumulate a semblance of wealth inside the WTS. publishing corporation, would Rutherford wrestled it up
for himself, such as he did ....... probably not. $$$
Rutherford was aware of the money that Russell dumped into the WTS. since he used Rutherford as a lawyer for most of the WTS's
business dealings. Just thought I would throw that in. Money and God umm... ummm Good

I thought it was a good reply Terry, I liked the analogy you used of a self taught Doctor, even a self taught Doctor can make people believe
he has the cure to heal in peoples eyes, of course the forgoing reality might result in something quite different though.
Russell was a shining example how much bullshit can be taught within the field of religious beliefs, in printed form or otherwise.

Help on: GB comparing themselves to Moses, Jesus, Prophets
by DesirousOfChange ini've had a discussion with a friend concerning the gb or org being "inspired" or "spirit-directed" or a "prophet".
i found the great strings about claiming prophet status (particularly 04/01/1972 wt and 10/01/1982 wts).. it seems i recall a wt or other publication where they compared themselves to moses, or even jesus as the one channel being used by jehovah.
while i don't recall any claim of "inspiration", there are dozens using "spirit-directed organization".. interestingly, note the reference to jesus:.

The WTS. has been inspired to lie as a self supporting means of empowerment and to sell its literature to the public.
The WTS. leaders have done what many other religions have done and that is to self proclaim that they are spirit directed by god.
Self proclaiming themselves in this way helps to lure people to their organization as well toward establishing a sense of viability.
Lying is a valuable asset to all religions, without it most probably wouldn't exist.

by Aussie Oz inthe teenagers.. via my teens i hear of plenty of baptized teens who are waaaaaaayyyyyyy left of centre.. alcohol, sex, and parties are going to claim a lot more than 'higher education' i reckon.. up yours watchtower.

Public awareness has grown dramatically over the years in regards to religious cults .
This awareness has even extended to individuals who may be associated to anyone of these cults, either through family
introduction or other prevailing circumstances.
The reason in my opinion that the JWs has such low retention of its followers, is one way or another they come to realize
that they are being corruptly exploited to support this organization by means of labor and money.
There is a assumed fraud being portrayed that has prevailing damages to themselves as well to others.
I honestly can say that more than 3/4 of JWs who were brought up a JW of my own generation have left,
with about 1/4 remaining. Religion as a idealogical social concept is declining in most modernized countries.
This also effects the JWS as a select religion.

it appears to be solidly, irrevocably there.
but, as you sail forward faster and faster approaching that horizon you never gain even.

The WTS. has been holding that carrot in front of the publics noses now for over a century.
With the inclusion of punishment onto those as to how they should walk to that carrot to gather more to follow toward that proverbial prize.
Of course the underlining reason why the carrot is there in the first place is the distribution and circulation of the WTS. own published literature.

Wasn't Russell's embracing of Pyramidology indicative to his self expressed amateur bible theology.
Not to mention all the other false inspired prophecies concerning the end times, Armageddon etc.
What more proof do you need ?
Just because he sold his own ideologies in books and literature doesn't reinforce the fact that he was theologically weak.

if they guessed wrong, then, you won a plush prize.
if they got it right they kept the dollar they had charged you.. of course, either way they made a profit because those plush stuffed animal prizes were purchased from china for mere pennies.. but, more to the point..... .

You could perceive the JWS/WTS. as the Barnum and Baily Show of religions coming to your door soon.
Tickets for the show are free but you must spend a few hours listening to one of the shows representatives

Just a few of the imaginative stories told by ancient civilizations concerning their select gods of worship.
Ironic is it not that humans living 2000 years later on who were no part of that civilization, believe in these stories told by those ancient men.
