  That's a big part of it. Another aspect of it is that it visibly spurts and flows; it moves. Movement = life. For instance, the Jews referred to flowing water (as opposed to still water) as "living water".

  The ancient Hebrews most likely thought life was in blood because whenever an animal or human was slaughtered, there was a profusion

  of blood draining out and life seemingly stopped. They did not know of what purpose blood held in its biological function, from that point on blood

  became sacred to the Hebrews and the rest is history.

  How did/does your congregation view going out to eat AFTER the Memorial?

  for us it used to be a big no-no, but i think it has slowly grown more acceptable since many of our elders would be starving during the whole reject jesus party.... i always thought it was a bit funny when i saw brothers and sisters almost celebrating with a big feast and drinks on the night that the good ol' messiah sacrificed himself for all humankind!

  it seems now more recently that since it is the only thing witnessess can celebrate, they go all out!

  maybe i'll join in the festivities too.. so what about you guys?

  egypt, assyria, babylonian, medo/persian, greece, rome, united states/united kingdom.

  this scenario fits the statue of different elements from gold to clay.
