there are a number of great articles on the un association, and it has been covered here extensively, but i notice newbies asking about the watchtower/un association and so have posted a comprehensive article at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/un.htm.

particularly interesting is the 1991 application form, as it shows that in 1991 the watchtower agreed to lodging annual reports in order to keep their status.

Is Faith Dangerous? A Question for Believers...

i hope this will be as respectful a debate as possible.

here is the premise: many of us (most) seem to be ex jw's on this board.

that means, whatever your motivation, for a time you bought into the theology of jw to one degree or another.

Putting your faith in a supreme being that has goodwill and attentions to mankind is not dangerous in a whole and might be considered good direction for the individual.

Where it does get dangerous though is when you seek that direction from dumb corrupt power hungry men, who use the power of the supreme in intent to empower themselves.

Exploilting people to contain that power, is where the danger of faith lies.

In short faith in men means expoiltation and power !

Once a person agrees that a man or group of men are the unquestionable voice of the supreme one therein lies the potensional danger !

When each varied group puts their undivided devotion to these men it creates a culture of bigotry and hatred in society and this is why so many wars are fought as history shows and still

contunes today. Unfortunately most secular religions will not give up that power very easily including the jws. and they strongly protect for which they have obtained.

Blood - current JW thinking...

a few observations from (indirectly) talking to a couple of hlc members who have recently attended meetings with his in brooklyn:.

(1) any hope that the wts will further reform the blood policy is wide of the mark.

the wts is very happy & settled with the current situation (whole blood + 4 components = nono everything else ok).

Well said greendawn.......It's sad to think that there are so many people being controlled by such a corrupt but powerful group of hypocrites hundreds of lives lost by the corruption of power ! In a way cowards to their own doctrines.

Can't stop hating....

my parents became jw's in the early 60's just before i was born.

i was raised as a jw but hated everything about it from a very early age.

going door to door was the worst growing up.

I've born witness to the personal damage it causes individuals and testified to the false prophesying business for what it is structured on. Now that I'm free of it's

manipulative slavery I can say with certainey I will never again be a slave to such blatant corruption. I've cast down the disgusting thing, so now my mind is clear,

my soul is full of purity and honesty, ......... my heart is happy again !

The truth has set me free.......won't you please give the truth a chance it might help you too ?

did any of you floridians see the article in the palm beach post.?

it seems they were giving a party for prince the other night (he's performing at the super bowl in miami toinght) and he would not show up because there were designs of dragons on the walls.

the article went on to say that prince is a "devoted jehovah's witness" and therefore believes that you can't look upon dragons because it is a symbol of the devil...now, my question is: have any of you current, or former witnesses ever heard of that?

Prince is right now the biggest visual proof how phoney trite and hypocritical the jws can be !

I would call his performance at the half time show " conduct unbecoming of a christian " wouldn't you ?

I guess the extremely rich celebrity types get treated and handled differently on top of the Watch Tower...................

My reinstatment letter

blood transfusions among the ancients

is there any evidence that blood transfusion was attempted in ancient history--ie ancient egypt, greece, rome?

could it be that the bible does refer to these practices in the "abstain from blood" passages?.

arming myself for my hlc meeting, any help or suggestions are appreciated.. ts.

It is estimated that one hundred jws die every year around the globe for the simply reason of not taking an transfusion, an awful shame in a human sense.

Does it not seem scripturally correct to heal somebody when they are sick, Jesus did it when he came upon a sick person.

The bible says to respect life as if it was your own and Jesus's greatest commandment above all was to love one another !

Walk in his foot steps if you are to please God and so on..........

I hardly think by taking in blood from another person in an effort to heal them would be displeasing to god in a biblical sense, you can still respect the

sacredness of blood in it's meaning and give blood to heal and at the same time keep true to biblical guidelines.

The abstaining law was handed down to the people then at a time when the religious leaders thought the people were disrespecting the use of it.

Perhaps they were drinking it, and there is written history to support that. Perhaps they were dying their cloths with it or even painting with it,

but given the human social mindset at that particular time of history one can only imagine.

The WTS will never change their policy on blood transfusions and I mean never. All jw's know by now that many of their chosen flock have perished due to not taking a transfusion.

If this was to change abruptly the damaging effect would be too weakening to their power structure and they certaintly wouldn't take a chance at that.

The jws obviously forgot the inportance of the sacredness of life which was stressed even more from Jesus Christ !

Corruption follows power.......
