  Service groups on Christmas Day.......Can't they leave people alone for one day?

  my wife took our dog for a walk this morning around 9:30 a.m. and saw a ''service group'' leaving my uncle's house this morning.

  she said there were about 8 people getting in 2 cars.

  she asked me, ''why would they go out today when people are celebrating christmas''?

  since my fade, i have decided to do what all jw men and some jw women do.

  i have grown a beard.

  i have more compliments on it from people i work with and come in contact with than ever before.

  Just a little addition to what has already been said so for on the subject, in regards to personal celebration,

  there are many people who are not religious to any extent that really get annoyed with the commercialization of

  this very old traditional Christmas celebration . The younger generation are not really so big into it like the previous,

  which might be that they are not religious in the first place. It therefore should be considered a socially traditional event

  or festive event rather that a religious event. Its time to visit family and have some fun and get caught up with one another.

  My very JWS family have been doing this now for over 50 years, with a big elaborate dinner with all the family in attendance.

  There is only about half of the family that are religious ( JWS ) but it never stops us from getting together, around the 25th.

  I think most Atheists may celebrate to some certain extent, particularly if they have children under their wing.

  It may be just a holiday to enjoy the days off of work and responsibilities.

  When your an atheist you don't have to be involved with any religious celebration, its an individual choice.

  To myself its dinners at restaurants and visits to friends and family members ( Who say its not really a Christmas get together )

  Last Nights Mtg. "Demonstrate Personal Interest" (New Bible Students Beware)

  sometimes it just hits you how cold and unfeeling this religious corporation is.. last night there was a part in the kingdom ministry about helping new bible studies.

  in one paragraph it mentioned how the new student might cut ties with former associates because they are not living by bible principles.

  it says that their families might disown them.

  Your not really one of us unless you think exactly like us, until you are completely devoted to the organization

  you not be completely loved and respected as one of us.

  Therefore new bible students are put on rigid conditions until you prove your total faith to the BORG.

  I have the impression that Iran will try to create nuclear arms with the program that they are undertaking.

  They've already showed attempts to hide one plant from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, so its plain to see they

  have the potential to hide even more in the future. But in all seriousness I doubt very much that they would try and use these weapons on

  any surrounding country like Israel, for they know well that the US and allied forces would be on them big time quickly.

  The Iranian president is stupid in a George Bush sort of way but I doubt if he's that stupid.

  HDMI Cables - Don't get ripped off

  when you buy a blu ray player or other hd devices, you will need to purchase a cable to connect it to your tv (or however your system is configured).. salespeople will typically try to sell you a "monster" cable or some high priced product.

  when buying my blu ray player for $79, they tried to sell me a cable for $59.. beware!

  with digital signals, you either get the signal or you don't.

  US publisher report for last year - "official" numbers from Society letter

  didn't see this posted anywhere, my apologies if this is a repeat..... in a letter to all congregations dated 12/9/09, the society wrote out some highlights of the previous service year.

  the letter is to be read to the congregation "at the first service meeting after its receipt".. here are the numbers they report (all numbers are for us only):.

  -- average publishers - 1,096,502. this is about a 4% increase (3.5% if you don't round) over the prior year's average of 1,059,253.. -- that "4% increase" in average publishers is the largest since 1992.

  There is an intensional manipulation by just about all JWS, from the bottom to the top.

  From people putting in bogus hours, to the accounts at the headquarters.

  Its kind of a game that they enjoy playing but it defines the pretentiousness of the JWs and the organization itself.

  whilst it is up to the board owners and moderators what they do on the board, i cannot understand the logic of deleting this members post's or account.. .

  There are some people who eventually come to realize that what they have fought for and supported for many years was nothing more

  than a exploitive scam, once this occurs they immediately go into heavily emotional fight to halt these feeling of exploitation.

  Melita may just been one of those very individuals.

  But I can see why she was cut from the forum.

  Working for a JW, what a horrible experience...

  one of the things that made me start doubting the wtbts and jws was the way jws treat their jw employees.. i worked for jws several times.

  the experience was always the same.. 1. pay was less than the going market rate for the same work at "worldly" companies.. 2. there were no benefits of any kind, no paid holidays, no sick time, no overtime, no insurance.. 3. whenever possible the jw forced the jw employees to pay their own company related expenses like gas, pager, company uniform, etc.. 4. any attempt to discuss the poor working conditions was always responded to with "but you get to make all the meetings and you get to go to the assemblies and you get to work for brothers.

  " and, if you said "i would go to meetings regardless of who i worked for" and pushed back on that answer then they started in on your "loyalty" and you were unspritual if you questioned a "brother" and were not "loyal" to your employer.. 5. any attempt to find another job was met with harassment, being told you could not give the jw employer as a reference, being threatened with lawsuits, etc.. 6. the jw employers themselves were lazy and would not do the things they expected of their jw employees.. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------.

  Totally agree Happyguy, I've been involved with JW owned companies a few times, one being my own father's

  and what you say is exactly true to the tee, it seems they know well how to exploit and take advantage of people.

  There seems to be a preponderance of I am the distinguished master, and all you people below me are the distinguished slaves.

  There is an intensional covering over themselves as being glossy white and righteously pure in comparison to other employers,

  which goes well with the pretentious character that most JWS carry with themselves. Its all about money to them.

  And of course when you do point to them their apathetic dealing with others they say something like

  " Well this is Satan's system of things, I alone cant change the system "
