the intention of the media is to present the illusion of impartially informing, all the while pandering to prejudice and ignorance in order to persuade to a particular point of view.

datelines presentation of the watchtowers child abuse issue was a case study in the black art of media propaganda.. from the very beginning of the presentation dateline was intent on giving the public a negative impression of jehovahs witnesses by portraying us all as oddball crackpots whose religion revolves around the doctrine that we dont celebrate birthdays and that all non-believers are possessed by the devil and that we want them all to die.

Amazing Survived Major Heart Attack

i just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.

on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.

he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

i personally didnt need the media to form that view....i grew up a jw so it formed naturally. most people that know even a little about jws already know about the birthday/holiday policies, as well as disfellowshipping, so dateline didnt exactly put a new spin on anything.

Obviously, the media mind-control apparatus had no interest in presenting the viewers with an accurate picture of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

i think a good way to present the viewers with an accurate picture of jws would have been to have a jw spokesperson come on the show, dont you? oh wait, they declined.....big surprise there.

The most shocking and disgusting aspect of the Dateline program, in my opinion, was the airing of a snippet of a private conversation that was recorded without the victim’s knowledge.

this was the most shocking part of the dateline program for me as well. i was in complete shock and almost disbelief when i heard the LEGAL dept. telling bill specifically to drop the issue if the accused denied it. i too found this completely disgusting.

The Armageddon illustration from the Watchtower’s brochure of horrified people falling into a crevice was obviously supplied to the Dateline producers by apostate JWs in order to inflame public opinion.

i believe they also showed awake articles on protecting children from child abuse, complete with picutres, did they not?

the wts illustration of armageddon is what it is.....dont you want the public to know about it? dont you indeed yourself show these pictures to people at the doors and those who begin studies?

The greatest disservice of Dateline propaganda is the way viewers were left with the suggestion that the next time Jehovah’s Witnesses knock on their door that one of them is probably there to rape their child.

i think this was the single greatest service to the public. quit analyzing as an arrogant man for a minute, and imagine yourself as a protective mother. picture this scenario:

a man comes to your door speaking of the bible while your nine year-old daughter plays in the front yard with her little brother. you know this man is a child molester who has admitted to having a craving for young girls, and has admitted to molesting girls of all ages. as he is walking away, he is writing down your address in his little black service book, along with the addresses of your neighbors, now knowing where all the young girls live. no danger to you at all? really? just becuase he wasnt allowed to come to the door alone, does this really make a difference? how many more accused child molesters are out in the door-to-door ministry right now? how many elders know of this, yet stay quiet? its disgusting, and the fact that you defend these practices is even more disgusting.

if its covered up you wouldnt know this person was a molester, that was one of my points. the elders are admittedly discarding accusations of molestation, so which of your "brothers" can you trust now? the man at the legal dept. said to ask the brother, and if he says he didnt do it....drop it. is that good enough for your comfort level with your fellow "brothers"? how many cases have simply been "dropped" becauase the "brother" said he didnt do it?

A Christian must forgive repentant sinners. That is the message of Christ. Non does not like homosexuality. But what if people like Joelbear are reinstated to congregation and they still have a tendecy to like men. Would non want to go visit joelbear? Should he go alone, even though bear has repented? See the point.

yes i see the point....and the point is that jws will try to make sweeping analogies that simply do not fit. joels sexual preference is quite different from a man who has raped little helpless girls, and still has the craving to do so again. do you think you would be defenseless against joel? do you think your little daughter would be defenseless with an old man trying to rape her? big difference. you can put all sins on the same plane if you so choose, but it doesnt make them the same in practicality for day to day life in this world.
