Do you miss a place to connect with others?

after fading away a couple of years ago and going through the stages of transition away from the wts anger, disappointment with them and with myself for staying so long and now disgust at their harmful doctrine i no longer think of myself as an ex-witness.. recently i have had a longing to check out other groups.. i recently went to a buddhist meditation but the religious symbols didnt feel right to me.
the people were warm, welcoming and genuinely interested in me.

Watchtower - Taxes and Grassley

charles grassley of iowa has for years been very concerned about abuses in the use of money by charitable and religious organizations.
he recently stated, the constitution does not exempt churches from federal income taxation or from filing tax and information returns.. his goal is complete transparency of how the dollars are used.

A few Random Memorial Observations:

the new world translation: for god loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.new jerusalem bible "yes, god loved the world so much, that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him, may not die but have eternal life.
"the obvious difference is that the speaker used john 3:16 as a guilt trip for those to do more.... exercise faith when the real meaning of the scripture seems much different.

Sunk Costs
by zarco init is interesting that many who do not believe any more or others with good thinking abilities choose to remain a witness.
i believe that the sunk costs are the reason... i will explain more below.
i also think this is why maybe even the governing body or other decision-makers at bethel are so reluctant to own up to real truth.

World Conditions Continue to Improve

as we enter into a new decade, it might make sense to look back to view the progress than mankind has made in these last days.. about 200 years ago everyone on the planet lived on the modern day equivalent of about $400 a year.
the exceptions were tiny nobilities.

most prophets of doom come from a religious perspective, though the secular crowd has caused its share of scares as well.
