My mums operation
by fullofdoubtnow inmy mum had her operation today, and i am so relieved!
everything went fairly well, and there seems to have been no complications, though it may be some time before she makes a full recovery.
she will be in hospital for a little while, and when she does come home she will most likely need someone with her most of the time as she won't be able to get around too well, but my brother and i will deal with that when she does come home.. the last few days have been really stressful, and i want to thankyou all for your good wishes, it means so much to me to know my mum has been in your thoughts and prayers.

What is the re-instatement process?
by megsmomma ini would like to know if it just requires an elder to send in something to update your records.
i have been very stressed out lately....thinking about my 8 year old shunning me just about kills me.
i da'd myself quite a while ago (7yrs) and i wish i could have somehow faded.

Just to answer.......My ex has full custody. When I left I was not in my right mind what-so-ever and I thought I was "good as dead" in Jehovah's eyes....and I didn't even think I should have custody. It is the biggest regret in my life. However, my ex does not try to stop the visits....whenever I can see her I do, and we talk on the phone all the time. The thing I worry about is that when she gets older she will realize that (as the elders manual says) shunning DA'd DF'd is neccesary to have a good relationship with Jehovah....and I don't want her to feel guilty for loving me or talking to me. I definitley want her to see what the WTBTS is....and make her decision about it based on the facts and I will encourage her to wait to get baptised till she is at least 18 (and I will show her what I have found at that time) But....it would be nice to just be her inactive mom....instead of her thinking I am on Satan side....blah blah

Well, thanks for the insight. I guess I am grasping at straws here. There is NO WAY I would be able to endure months of that kind of torture...I cannot be fake for that long....maybe a day or two....but not months of it. Although I do feel like I would do it for my daughter, but then I would have the JW's know where I live and they would DF me again for sure. Man, hind-sight is 20/20.....

Arggggggg! That would be some miserable suffering for sure! But....do you think it is a matter of just sending in a notice? Like if we could find a fading elder to help us? I would only like it changed on record since my ex is an Elder, and would check up on me I am sure...so he feels ok letting my daughter continue to visit me.

I DA'd myself quite a while ago (7yrs) and I wish I could have somehow faded. I see how all my siblings are treated different than me ONLY because they never got dunked. I was dunked at 14, which is way too young. I do not ever want to be a JW again....but I would like the title of being DA'd gone so my daughter never has to worry about shunning me. Can anyone tell me if this would be possible or are there any elders that anyone knows of that would help me by updating the society's records? Thanks to anyone who knows.

Are we no different than JWs when it comes to expectations?
by undercover ini find it interesting that a lot of people who came out of the jw experience still have expectations of "big" things to come.. as ex-jws, we can quote wt publications and list references showing all the instances where the "end" has been predicted and we list all the failures of their predictions and hopes.. a lot of us use those failed expectations as a basis for no longer accepting the wts as god's organization on earth.. yet, a lot of people leave the jws, then become infatuated with the notion that the "end" of the wts or jws is imminent.. threads pop up from time to time about "how long can the wts last?
" or "what big changes are about to happen?
" etc.. when i read some of these, i'm reminded of jws and how they use the "evidence" of earthquakes, famine, disease and wars and reports of wars as "evidence" for the "end" being so close.. have we traded on "end times" belief for another?

I was under the impression that since the proof of the WTBTS being misleading can be found easily, it will definitley affect the numbers of those being tricked. I don't think any of us are awaiting the "BIG END" at all....rather, happy that not so many are getting tricked.

A funny prayer...out of the mouths of babes....
by megsmomma inthis story is cute in a way....but also disturbing since it does show how jw's brainwash their young.. when my daughter was 5 she was visiting me and at night i would listen to her pray (at that time i was still not free from the guilt, ect) well, she started out "dear jehovah....ooohhhhhhh jehovah......(sounded just like her dad) thank you so much for this food we're about to recieve..." no, we were not about to eat!
i had to see she was imitating what she had heard many times....and i laugh, but it makes me sad too.
at least i know that their truth really isn't in her heart....just her brainwashed mind, and for some reason....i think that is much better..

Not good, not good at all
by lola28 inhi guys,.
sorry to burden you all with this but i really have no one that i want to talk about this with, i'm afraid that i will burst into tears and wont be able to stop if i call any of my friends and tell them what's going on.
my little sister has been ill with a fever for three weeks, her doctor kept telling her it was just a bad case of the flu and that she had an ear infection, he gave her antibiotics and sent her home.

I am so sorry to hear about your little sister. You are right, she should not have to go through that. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I can relate because my little sister ( I am 31...and she is 21) fell off a bridge.....over 60 feet high and went through a-lot to recover. I would have traded her places too. ((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))
