  Feeling Sorry for the Current GB

  why, today, have i managed to make myself feel sorry for the current gb?.

  ill explain.... in another current thread on jwd, wherein unoh has yet again valiantly marched out upon the plain to confront the armies of apostasia, alanf makes an interesting observation:.

  jw leaders are the ones who exploit others...having become old and spiritually ossified, they cannot change.

  My Mum, Demons, The Watchtower & MGM

  a couple of years ago, on the old h2o, i posted something called my demon story which told a story, back in the seventies, of a supposed demon attack on a family known to me.

  the point of the story was in fact that the only demons involved were self-supplied from this particular sisters hysterical, over-active imagination.. during the course of that story, i said.

  i dont think even at my most faithful and zealous that i ever took the demon stories seriously.

  Sooty and Jehovah

  a couple of years ago we took our youngest to see sooty.

  anyone from the uk will instantly know who i mean sooty is a little glove-puppet bear (?

  ) who never speaks but has managed to turn himself, over the last 50 years or so, into a british national institution.. sooty has a couple of friends sweep the dog (always my favourite) and soo and various others who appear in his show.

  Concerning Santa Claus

  i thought id post this now, because firstly were just coming into that time of year, and secondly the thread started by mulan called confession got into this subject and started me thinking.. i couldve posted this as a reply in that thread, i suppose, but i wanted to discuss it separately.

  besides, its been months since i saw my name up there in a thread started by capacity, so i thought it was time.

  concerning santa claus, then.. the whole christmas issue is, of course, one of the meanest, most joy-denying, life-diminishing teachings in the whole miserable jw mindset.

  "We do it for the Brothers"

  i remembered this just the other day, and thought id make a post of it.. back in 1971, during my first year of pioneering, i was kind of adopted by one of the sisters in the congregation who was keen to get me friendly with her son (a teenage boy just a little younger than myself) with a view to getting him interested in the pioneer service.. kevin spent part of that summer shadowing me everywhere i went, learning to be a pioneer, and many times i was invited to meals at his house.. his family had been in the truth for ever.

  his parents, rose and albert, were absolute congregation stalwarts.

  i gradually began to get a bit irritated with them, since it was clear after a few weeks of looking after kevin, and accepting some (not all, just the minimum number for politeness sake) of his many invitations to his house.

  i just had to tell you.. i'm at home, kids in bed, wife's out (girls night out) i'm watching liverpool on the telly (no score yet), just finished a curry, drinking lager, reading jw.com.

  Christmas Shopping

  dear all.

  i'm a new chap here, one of the old h2o refugees who seem to have been streaming to this place recently.. englishman suggested i post my "christmas shopping" post as a kind of introductory-hi-and-how-are-you.

  hope you like it, despite it not being terribly seasonal at the moment.. i'll look forward to posting here in the future (original stuff i mean, not just reheated "greatest hits" like this).
