Any ex-annointed ones here or know of any?

in all seriousness, i would like to know from anybody in this forum if anybody on here had ever experienced such an "annointing".

even though i do not believe in the tower and its teachings for a couple of years now, i would always question the supposed "feelings" an "annointed" person was suupposed to have.

in light of younger people claiming to be of this "annointed class" in recent years, i question their motive and all of those that were older which were most likely "annointed'".. thanks

I have been partaking for almost 15 years. A couple of those were at the Kingdom Hall, but because of my age (early thirties) short length of time being a Witness (only 15 years when I started partaking), I got so much flak from my 'loving brothers' I began partaking at home. I always thought that several thousand people observing the memorial together was ridiculous anyway, it is not comfortable for me.

Paul made it very clear. all Christians can avail themselves of heavenly promise. Jesus made it very clear...all Christians can avail themselves of teh heavenly hope.

And Watchtower made it very clear...all Christians can avail themselves of the heavenly hope. In the beginning when it was convenient for them.

You have to understand that the heavenly hope has been around for many centuries, and of course Watchtower is the one who came along and established the infernal two-class system.

When Jesus made the statement that "He who will not forsake mother, father, brother, sister, is not worthy of me" there is a growing concensus (and it is not new) that Jesus was referring to those who did not wish to part from their fleshly non-believing relatives. It is clear in this statement that there is a CHOICE for the heavenly hope or no.

Watchtower admits that many of their converts come from backgrounds where everyone has a heavenly hope, and these people wish to hang onto that hope. Watchtower snatches that hope away from them before they even fully convert.

I agree totally not just with Aguest but with many others on this board: the heavenly hope is there for ANYONE in an approved relationship with God. The earthly hope that Jesus referred to, and that the Hebrews held for thousands of years, is there for those that want THAT.

Our understanding of things may change over the years regarding either or neither hope. That is not what is importnat. It is the life we lead, and I have met many earthies, heavenlies, and atheists/pantheists/agnostics who lead good lives and the world is a better place with them in it.

JW commercial on t.v. news channel

i can not beleive what i just saw on the all news channel.

it was a commercial endorsed by the christain congregation of jehovah's witnesses.. the commercial starts off with a mom checking on her son,who can not sleep .

he is upset and by the drawing he did, you can tell it is about the world trade center attacks.

If anyone could track down a mailing address for the entity/person responisble for okay'ing this airing, I and I am sure quite a few others, would be happy to write---even call---these people and give them the lowdown on the true JW.

Such as the 'pedophile paradise'

Such as the 'rape resistance' rule

Sunch as 'child baptism, shunning, expulsion'

such as the' blood versus shunning/expulsion' rule

and so on...

Top STUPID criticisms of the WTS

there are certainly enough valid criticisms of the wts and the jw religion, but a significant number of often-repeated criticisms of the religion are, imnsho, just ludicruous and serves to take attention away from the real issues.

significant problems with the wts includes, but are not limited to, the shunning policy, the blood issue and of course the corporate policy of hiding child molestors.. here is a list of criticisms of the wts that i find particularly annoying to see:.

russell was a freemason (or, even worse, the wts is part of some other large-scale conspiracy like the illuminati).

My dictionary goes on to say in definition 2 and 3:

any method of controlled systematic indoctination. an instance of treatment by such a method.

I think it is very obvious that the words 'cult' 'sect' and 'brainwashing' definitely apply to jehovah's Witnesses.

But I also have found, in my personal experience, that to use these terms in speaking to the public or Jehovahs' Witnesses is probably counterproductive and although JanH didn't say so, I assume that is a concern of his..? No doubt the avoidance of these particlar terms under most circumstances will get better results in the long run for whatever we are trying to do.

I think 'cult' 'brainwashing' and 'sect' are best used when ex-jw is talking with ex-jw, or perhaps when mental health professionals are talking with each other. I really wouldn't use the terms even in a public speaking engagement, there just are better words for better results I think.

Dungbeetle's criticism NO 1: You are a moron. To quote Silentlambs: "If I was a pedophile, I would become a Jehovah's Witness just as fast as I can."

<Yep, "followers of followers" aptly describes them. As Ray Franz so nicely put it, they're all "victims of victims".>

Dungbeetle's criticism NO 2: I can't judge as to Ray Franz's correctness of this perception of his THEN, twenty years ago, but this is not true now. There are no longer "followers of followers" since all the thinking ones have left and all the fragile ones are df'd or dead or worse;

Pretty much what is left are the YoYomommas and the NYtelecoms and those who are being held ,against their will ,by bullying, threats, and family ties.

You see, the mistake that ex-jw's, the communities and the governments have made has been to expend all of their meager resources on fighting the disease in sick people. A better solution is to use those same resources to vaccinate the millions of potential converts, so they don't become Watchtower victims in the first place.

Eventually, with enough vaccination and follow-up 'care' this disease can be eradicated.

And JanH and Simon and HS and all the rest of you (except KS) are right: The facts are on our side, what more do we need.

We have the vaccine; we need to attend to the method of delivery.

For some men, being in a postion of leadership in the Watchtower organization is an extreem action used by some one of low self esteem who feels powerless and who needs to reassert their pathetic self worth with ... control, when their feelings of inadequecy resurface.

Are there any ex-missionaries here??

i have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.

and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.

Spiritually minded people cannot tolerate cult-like thinking, becasue cults are essentially dead, closed systems and spiritual people are alive, growing changing.

Sell out or get out, that's what happens with the Watchtowers of teh world.

Yes, Kismet, it was a quote, but don't you think happyman quoted it for a reason? Have you gone back and read all of happyman's posts? I have, I believe I replied on his vey first post to the board.

So, at least up untill now, I am familiar with how he says he feels about a lot of things. I WAS responding to happyman DIRECTLY, around his quote.

I'm shocked an appalled by your lack of respect for human life. The 'rapist' is the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, who would have expelled/shunned this girl in a SECOND if she had taken the blood.

I'm shocked an appalled by the fact that you do not mind having your magazine money used by Watchtower lawyers to try and KILL A CHILD.

Well, there are real people out there who DO CARE, and they ARE being heard. In spite of all your efforts.

Now let me ask you: What would be wrong with a 'don't ask don't tell' policy on blood for children? Watchtower already has a 'don't ask' policy for a lot of things; elders don't usually go around asking, one per year, all the publishers if they have committed adultery, smoked, become drunk, homosexuality, had an abortion, and on and on.

So where is the harm in extending this to blood, especially for children? I would think too, that with the removal of the expulsion/shunning for blood usage, those who refuse blood treatment have a better chance of having their wishes respected as medcial care providers will see this 'pressure' has been removed from their patients.

Simple IS somtimes better.

Would you NOT SUPPORT a "Don't ask don't tell" policy for blood. This does not go toward the issue of whether blood transfusions are biblical; it infringes on no INDIVIDUAL's right to practice their religion.

"Don't ask "" already exists for many many issues within the Watchtower. Adultery, alcoholism, smoking, abortion, homosexuality, and many mnay more. Th elders don't usually go around asking each publisher once per year "Have you" or "Do You"...it's 'don't ask'.

What would be the harm in extending this policy to blood? It would be good for Watchtower to do this for the sake of publicity; and medical care providers would be more likely to allow individuals to refuse blood treatment if they knew that this pressure was not being exerted on the patient.
