Well, I don't wish any harn to anyone, BUT I laughed hard on that one.
I have often thought that missing one meeting wouldn't show my lack of faith but might show stupidity and lack of respect for life in many situations.

past history,.
an incident at my first congregation (stalag 17).
an elder from the platform, obviously trying to encourage the masses, spoke about the brothers in beirut, dodging the bullets to get to the group meeting and how we should be zealous, like these ones, in going to the meetings.. a few weeks later we had a very bad bout of snow, .

i was wondering the other day how many would drink if the kool-aid came out at a future meeting?
you know, they made an announcement that the faithfull and discreet slave had been told that we should all kill ourselves because jehovah did not see the need for us to endure through armageden.
i wonder....30 percent?
I thought about it and came up with my Grandmother and one Aunt that might out of about 50 relatives that are JW's. I think the majority of young JW's wouldn't but some of those who have been JW's for 30+ years if told they would be disfellowshiped and not allowed to be in the resurection would, maybe upwards of 5%. I think of those that died in concentration camps and in South Africa over being a JW.

i am going to church today with my wife.
i was putting on a tie and found my old tie-pin with the hebrew yhwh on it that i had from my jw days.
i thought about wearing it with my tie but just couldn't do it.
Well, I can say for me its equally hard for me. I have found hypocrisy in all churches I have went to since leaving the witness' (I was raised as a JW). I have had difficulties with rules and regulations (southern Baptist no drinking, not that I even drink but if I do have a beer I don't want to think I am sinning). The current church I am going to is a "restoration church", which seems to very open. I don't like that they think tithing is mandatory, but JW's did just not with money they used a persons time and resources (minimum of 10 hours if you wanted to be considered just doing the minimum).

scientology losing ground to new fictionology.
los angelesaccording to a report released monday by the american institute of religions, the church of scientology, once one of the fastest-growing religious organizations in the u.s., is steadily losing members to the much newer religion fictionology.
"unlike scientology, which is based on empirically verifiable scientific tenets, fictionology's central principles are essentially fairy tales with no connection to reality," the air report read.
The new fictionoligist deity,
All Glory to the Hypno-Toad!
All hail the Hypno-Toad!
Please don't be mad at me I am just going door to door trying to get others to know about our new god the Hypno-Toad.
while in the borg, we seemed to be focused on people, but it was false, only looking for opportunities to 'convert', 'study with', 'help them into the truth'.. i have noticed that i take a genuine interest in others now.
those i meet in public, my gay child care provider, her childen, her partner.
parents of other children we meet at events [we care for our grandkids].
Its been a slow hard thing for me to do is actually have a conversation with anyone. I have been trained from infancy to think everyone is bad and was going to die if they went a JW. Its been dificult for me to actually do anything with others, I always rush home to my wife and kids and almost always excuse myself from doing anything with others still. BUT, I am trying to change. Hopfully I can soon enjoy conversations without that thing in my head saying this is a bad person.

on tuesday night, i took an elbow to the nose while playing volleyball.
a guy i play with is an er doctor and recommended i go to the er just to make sure everything was ok. turned out i had a "nasal fracture with contusion.
" anyways, while talking with the admissions lady, one of the questions she asked me was, "any religion or church you want me to put you down as affiliated with?
WHOOPS! I'm on hubby's computer. Didn't think about that! Kitten Whiskers

The first time you have to answer that is odd isn't it? I think the first time I had to answer it was when I was filling out a form for the kids at the pediatricians office. It's like a blast of cold air to the face. You all of a sudden realize how much has changed. Kitten Whiskers P.S. Truth.ceeker: Yes, I put Christian. That was all I had. No other real church affiliation.

being curious about why people do or act the way they.
do led me to this discussion.
No spiritual or ex-JW reason, since I have been mentally disconnected from the JW's for quite some time. I always enjoyed the show "Futurama" and one of the characters was the "Hypno-Toad" I have used that as an alias on many other sites/IM clients I used it on here as well. My other alias used elsewhere is LukasMcKain.
First time poster, husband of Kitten Whiskers, Yes, this happend after we left, but my father, former elder (removed because my mother was DF) told me that the PO (with a pioneer wife and two kids) had an affair with a Poineer sister (wife of former elder) who has a poineer son and a son in bethel. Both the PO and pioneer were DF'd. Now only 3 elders left for a cong. of 120+. My grandmother and father told me that at a district convention that they said "the end is so close you can taste it", well my taste buds have changed!
