New special campaign....a few things that most don't see....

ok. we have that "special" campaign ahead.....i still don't know how i will avoid participating....my family is all excited and will put the pressure on.....i might get my 50 tracts and toss them somewhere......it will look suspicious that i finished after an hour and "placed" 50 pcs in a territory that is closed to jw.....anyway.

here a few thoughts that crossed my mind:.

everybody at my hall is all excited about this special tract and i can't get the nice conversations i usually have with a few going, because of the excitement.

What does that abbreviation stand for?

Are they really? How do you know that? I am the most niavest person! Why would someone go to all the trouble to just be in it to spy? Have they got an axe to grind?

So, I can see there would be people in the organisation coming on here, not being happy, but staying due to family etc.... but can't see what other purpose there would be to go and become "high" up and come on here reporting back etc.

I was bought up a JW and left 10 yrs ago, some family won't talk to me - not cos I'm df'd but because I won't marry my partner and I won't return - I was baptised so they say that makes all the difference! But I cannot see me going to the hall just to report back? I would feel sick walking in to a KH again!

well, in nearly forty years of being a dub, i've read some bs but some of it really takes the biscuit.. take for example the watchtower of november 15th 2006!.

I have a friend who is a publisher. She is my best friend. She can do no wrong in my eyes. She has had a rough time in her life, and she has committed fornication 3 times.... well not just three times only.... three times she had relationships with guys and slept with them over a short period of time. When she felt sufficiently guilty (because of the religion) she would pack em in and go to the elders. She has NEVER been df'd!

I would never try to convince her not to go because she has many friends there and I think it keeps her going (not the religion but the social side!).

Poor her... she has been abandoned by her husband and craves to be with a man.... she has fallen for someone ( a MS... !!) and he "plays" with her emotions. She has told him how she feels and yet he flirts and upsets her! She gets soooo frustrated. The Elders have told her that although abadoned (4.5 yrs now!) by her husband... she is free to divorce him (if only that simple) but she may never re marry!!!! FFS she is a 37 yr old beautiful woman who has needs and wants to be loved. They will tell her to wait for the GT and she will be rewarded!!!!

Oh, and in her reproval meetings they wanted to know EVERYTHING she had done. Oh "I slept with someone over the last month or two" was not good enough! It was "When, where, how many times. Did you have oral sex" FFS they are complete perverts! probably fantasising about what my freind might be "up for" so they can "think" about it later!

I have been PR'd a long time ago.... and let me tell you it was the worst thing ever.... again I was asked too many personal questions - which I told them!!!! ha ha. Cos I was shitting myself. My best friend was NOT allowed to come in with me and hold my hand.

Rubbish. Mind controlling.

Okay, so I was made to go to the meetings and I was also made to get baptised. I was NOT very studius (by nature) and as I didn't wanna be in the hall anyway, I didn't take much notice. I have read the whole of this thread and it has blown my mind.

Am I understanding from all of this that (sorry I am trying to get to grips with it all - simply) the 144,000 members of the GC who we all thought would die and then armageddon would come... now all probably dead. So the GB have changed their story. Do the GC not all partake in the bread and wine at the memorial.... so if no one is partaking - then they are all dead! they must keep numbers! (sorry, I need all this in simple terms).

Okay so if they have now changed their minds about this..... then what is the new teaching? And, if they can interpret the Bible as saying x, y, and z one day and then a, b, c the next..... well (as I said I am not the worlds greatest philosopher) even I can see that I would be worrying about what I was in!!!!!

I mean, I still have that scripture in my mind (drummed in) about the end of this system of things, where men would be lovers of money rather than lovers of god...... blah blah... you all know it so fill in the gap. It goes around my head and still makes me worry!!!! It does all sound like today to be honest... and I'm NO historian either (believe it or not).... so where some of you say this is the most peacefull the earth has been, I would like to know more.

Btw.... and thanx for humoring me here... the article of the watchtower with all the people on the front - what are they saying about these people inside the watchtower?

after 8 yrs not being a jw (not dfd just left)... my b.i.l has decided for the good of his family that they are not to associate with me!

my sis was like my best friend, and now .... after they had marital difficulties (which he knows only the half of, cos she has kept her mouth shut) he has now become a mini man!!

he has told my sis and my beautiful nieces and nephews that they cannot associate or speak to me at all.

Funny though, cos when all the s..t hit the fan, he came driving to me all drunk and tearfull and I councilled him! (I have NEVER had a relationship with him in the 13 yrs they have been together!). I also told my sis off and said I'd support her in whatever she wanted to do, BUT she mustn't carry on like this behind his back, and mustn't hurt him! Now, I have made mistakes, but I am a very loyal, honest and moral person. I don't wanna see anyone hurt and I didn't think he should be lied and cheated on. But, because I was baptised (too young and not of my own decision) I am the baddy!!! eh? I was always open to hear whatever news came from the organisation after assemblies whether or not I agreed, but I would listen and not pooh pooh it! My best freind pioneers a few times a month and she has studies she tells me all about. I listen, and would NEVER ever dis her beliefs. She is intellegent and old enough to decide.

All I am saying here is "HOW THE HELL WILL I OR ANYONE ELSE IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS REALLY affect their thoughts?" No one will change my mind on my thinking..... but I'm open to debate!

She will see sense and she will ring me and I will be here for her too.

Okay I am new here today.... so apologies. Firstly, I am just working this out.... so redpill is an active JW? Tell me why he is on here or not an ex JW? Is this what you are refering to as an "apologist"? Are you in the religion still just so you can come on and tell us all what is going on, or is it because you don't/can't leave because of family etc. Sorry, just to get up to speed. xx

Oh my god, I think we live a parallel life good girl!

My BIL hated me since being with my sis too... and yep, this was his opportunity to get her away from me! using the witnesses as a good excuse.... told him that too!

This happened about 3 months ago now and I have grown to accept it. He is wrong. He has to live with that.

I have been out of the "truth" for about 10 yrs though.

Well, I worked with son of PO who was a coke taking, fornicating, clubbing, smoking, drinking boy! His (witness) girlfriend had an abortion and his friends would all be at it with drugs, sex and rock and roll! lol. Actually he was just normal and I loved him. But, he was a hypocrite and did go off to the meetings and act like the perfect son of the PO. He thought it funny that he gave talks, and would make me larf when telling me how he gave a talk on drugs or sex before marrage or something. His sis was just the same.... and YES the PO dad knew ALL that was going on in his perfect family and covered it all up! LOL.

I found it amusing, as I had left by then.

No way she won't. I told her I will never "spill the beans" on what she got up to .... twice. I said to her, does she believe - she says "yes". I said "okay, then if you believe then you also will die at armaggden, as you are hiding your "sin"" I did ask her if she has "confessed" to the elders or her husband... "NO". So, basically, she is only there "for the kids". She is so easy going, she will get involved and bury her head. She will just make as many friends as she can and carry on drinking!

Oh, and they moved last week: to a really bad area. Why? Because my BIL said the organisation has told them all to move as close to a KH as possible!? Even though this area is riddled with drugs, murders in the road etc... they have four kids under 10 ffs! Armaggedon will not come and the kids will now be subject to all sorts of terrible things!

Did your JW social life only consist of meals at a friends home?

i know many here who have had good and bad jw social experiences.

some went camping, hiking etc, went to the beach.

some had no social life at all in the org and some had congregations where nothing ever happened socially.. i know of one sister, who has since left, who complained that the only thing witnesses did when they got together, was share a meal.. now, there's nothing wrong with sharing a meal.

That is one thing I miss about not being one... I had a lot of friends.... some who can't/won't speak to me now as I such a terrible person!! ha ha.

I loved it when we were little. Our cong. would hire a hall and we would all have family parties and stuff.... we had friends who would hang out at ours after the group. All of the social side was great.

However,when I was a teen and moved out to a witness family house, that cong. said NO to any gathering of 4 or more!!!! So, there was NO group gatherings of any sort "allowed". Well, there was 5 girls in the family including me and then the mum dad and son!!! So bit hard there. We ignored that as it was a made up stupid rule by an elder who probably had nothing better to think up, he also said no brother and sister can work together unless they are family or married... oh he got df'd for having an affair soon after!!

My sis was like my best friend, and now .... after they had marital difficulties (which he knows only the half of, cos she has kept her mouth shut) he has now become a mini man!! He has told my sis and my beautiful nieces and nephews that they cannot associate or speak to me at all. I have 3 other bro and sis's - my bro is dfd (so they wont talk to him either) and one of my sisters too. Our youngest sis is living with partner but never baptised.... so they can associate with her!!! (in his words.... she can still be saved!) If I go back to the meetings and confess ALL and then marry my partner then he will reconsider!!!! ffs! This is all from the man who drove over to my house 8 months ago drunk as a skunk wondering where my sis was (well she was out having fun)... and now denies he even touches the evil stuff! Who, doesnt work and draws benefits so he and my sis can be at home with the kids and door knock all day long... more like so he can watch my sis doesnt get interested in another guy cos she's so unhappy! When I rang her (for the last time) I asked her why she was "going along with this" she said for the kids... he will kick her out if she doesn't go along with him, without the kids and that will be that!

It is not like I would EVER try to tell them how to live their lives... I don't agree or believe at all, but I wouldn't be so disrespectful to push that on them (or the kids).

More likely they are worried that if they dare let the children even talk to a non believer, they might turn out bad!! Btw, they asked my mum (who they are allowed to talk to as she is just fallen away) if she is gonna die at armageddon.... yeah with me! Nice one.

I had to explain this to my partner - who cannot believe the reasoning behind all this. He then went on to ask why so and so a friend is "allowed" to talk to me then? I have a few good friends who are witnesses and yes, they call and see me regularly.... how come they see it one way and he sees it another!! He said he is protecting his family.

Had to vent ...... no one understands really do they! God, I can't believe I might of treated people like this!!

Think my sis loves the association and just pops to the hall to see her mates.... she is in denial!
