Are J.W.'s as Gullible as the Org's Writings Imply?
by The Searcher inthe latest watchtower certainly indicates that the org thinks they are!!
why keep in expectation?
watchtower august 15 par.

Some are gullible some are not. The elders for example are not gullible enough to believe that brother so and so standing there in his raincoat with pockets full of candy and mirrors on his shoes is a pedophile no matter how many kids come forward. It's not until they can find two eye witnesses to the alleged molestation do they believe. -

Book Burning and other burning of materials done by JW. Any experiences Please post
by adjusted knowledge inas a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.

Sometimes you gotta step back to "see" the progress.
LOL at that statement Steve2. Sarcasm right.

I remember as a kid my parents burning copies of Scientific American Magazines, not books but close. They noticed a few articles on the subject of evolution, they did that at the behest of a couple of real ultra dubs from Pennsylvania. -

If They Stopped Shunning Tomorrow?
by cofty inimagine that the cult decided to stop shunning family members on the proviso that the dfd person was not actively trying to attack the cult.. (please don't debate whether or not this is likely - it's hypothetical).
how would you respond to your family?.
personally i think i would be less than cooperative.

Sorry... This is not an hypothetical question at all. This exact thing happened in the late 1970's with a view change. You were allowed to associate with family members as long as you had no religious interchange. I believe it was Ray Franz that wrote and helped to implement that policy. It was only a matter of a few years until they changed back to the beat them and shunning policy in 1982 and that is where we have been ever since.
I remember that now that you brought it up Poztate.

If people that know you go the extra mile to shun you for you, then it means they know you well enough to know what kind of a person you really are, and are in a much better position to decide why they are doing it without having to blame the entire organization.
I don't think so SimonSays. I don't think they knew me at all. Otherwise I would have come back and sat at the back of the hall like they probably expected. As far as the Borg goes I am sure they had plans for a young brother like me. One elder even told me that. LOL.
I was young then and now I am getting old all those lost years was harder on them than it was me I'm sure.

I would demand payment from family and friends that shunned me to be held in trust by me,and me alone just in case the GB decides to reverse the non shunning rule. Then at least I would have something to remember them by. After procuring payment I would then have limited contact with them sort of like that distant relative that drops in on you once every few years. After all these years of being shunned there is too much damage that has been done to family relationships, I have moved on. I have real family and friends now. -

Simon everyone including brother Jeremy has the right to believe what they want. It would be fun though to go to that museum in Alberta just to observe and ask questions of the people who run it. -

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brother Jeramy inallow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

It was my understanding that this site welcomed both views, I was mistaken.
Introvert 2 . You can have both views if like but don't expect your views to go unchallenged. Nobody is disfellowshiping Bro Jeremy here. Not like the watchtower does. Go tell the elders about your posts on here and that you disagree with some of what the borg teaches and see what happens to you!
