my children and i just returned from a trip to germany where we visited my deceased husbands parents, his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, and assorted cousins, all of who are jehovahs witnesses.. before we left, the children and i agreed that since their grandparents were old people and not in good health, it would be an act of loving consideration not to cause them any further distress by announcing that we were no longer active in the congregation.
so we went prepared to attend meetings, to go out in field service and to pretend that we were still die hard jehovahs witnesses.
we packed the proper kingdom hall attire, suits, ties, ankle length dresses, as well as our bibles and songbooks.. i suppose to some this may seem the cowards way out, that i should have just announced our new status and let the chips fall where they may.

I am not surprised. Many large corporations are fined because of pollution at one time or another and the watchtower organization is no different from most corporations.
The scriptures says that Jehovah will bring to ruin those ruining the earth. Do you really believe that the Governing Body has trust or belief in the scriptures that they wield to the detriment of its membership?
its almost a year now since the horrific attacks on the wtc, everytime i see those news clips of planes smashing in to the trade centre towers i feel sick to my stomach.
to see innocent people jumping from windows to certain death and the courage of police firefighters and innocent people caught up in this horror truly humbles me as a jw.
its a terrible world we live in, and though my beliefs about the solution to this differ from most on this board, i sure you like me will take a few minutes out this wednesday 11 to remember so many good people who lost their lives, and those that gave theirs, unselfishly trying to help others.

If there is indeed a Jehovah and he is concerned about mankind, he certainly has an incredibly impassive way of showing it.
On the moring of September 11, 2001, I had just come out of the subway when a man passing me in the street told me that a plane had hit the World Trade Center.
My daughter worked in the World Trade Center. I felt so helpful. So vulnerable. I didn't really know what to do.
I went to my office and turned on the news and what I heard make my flesh crawl. I felt an overwelming urge to vomit.
To make a long story short, my daughter survived. She ran from her office with no bag, no money, nothing. But the good and kind people of New York helped me and she survived.
For this I am forever grateful.

i was associated with the watch tower bible and tract society of new york and pennsylvania, also known as, jehovah's witnesses.
It's incredible that the watchtower could print an article like that and still call witnesses christians.
A true christian would not hesitate to help his fellow man whether that person had a "goodstanding" in the congregation or not. A true christian would know instinctively that if someone, no matter whom, required aid then they would render that aid in the best way they could.
Unfortunately, witnesses believe that the only aid they need to render anyone is in the form of watchtower literature.

I have family that are Jehovah's Witnesses who do not believe most of the teachings of the watchtower society, however, they remain in the truth for a number of reasons, one of which because it encourages them and their families to be moral human beings. Some people need their morality legislated before they take it seriously. So, in that sense, yes, they believe that some of the teachings of the witnesses are correct.
So, taking away the prospect of living forever on a paradise earth would mean little to them. They don't believe it anyway.
