#21 If I knew they were there I would not answer the door. I don't want to see any of the elders and face the confrontation that I know would follow. They would ask me why I stopped attending meetings and I would have to tell them how I really feel. The elders travel in pairs and so it would be little me against two men determined to get me back in the Kingdom Hall.

I would probably get upset and if the kids were home they would get upset because I was upset.

I know that one day I will have to face then, but until that day comes I will try to avoid it for as long as I can.

Assembly picketing

when i went to the assemblies, i would see people picketing, holding signs up, etc.

you would have "security" to look out for green bibles, and keep opostates out.. i never looked at them with hatred, never really gave it much thought at all.. i am curious if anyone here has participated in protesting the assemblies, and what were the reactions?

My father has died (Tom Amoroso)

hello my name is nick amoroso son of thomas charlas amoroso and sherrie amoroso.

i recieved news of my fathers untimely death thursday sept. 19. i am not sure who reads these forums but if you are from the northwest of the u.s. and have been in the truth for a conciderable amount of time you will know my father.

for those of you that do not know him i feel obligated to tell you his story.

You are a good son and it seems that you loved your father very much.

Nick, we are all human and we all sin in one way or another so please don't judge your father too harshly. He simply had weaknesses that he could not overcome. We all do. '

It is just so sad that the elders in his congregation could not understand that and could not help him find the peace he was looking for.. Many times Jehovah's Witnesses preach love but their love is limited to those they deem worthy. You saw that firsthand.

I will include you and your family in my prayers.

A question of race

since i was a believer from the earliest of my memories, i spent my formative academic years not thinking or caring much about my future.

although 1975 (armageddon / the end of the world / jehovah's judgment) was still a year away, as a naive, dumbass teenager it was looming very large on my radar screen.

besides *that*, my best jw buddy got baptized in february of that year.

Insecurities exist in all of us and while we may not all be conscious of our skin color, I sometimes wonder if people are reacting negatively toward me because this red outfit makes my butt look big, or if I have the wrong color lipstick on, or maybe they can smell the onion on my breath I had for lunch.

Maybe you blame negative reactions on your color because that is what you are most conscious of.

However, some people are just nasty no matter who you are or what you look like. Everyday for them is a bad day.
