The Importance of being a Newbie

it wasn't that long ago that i was a newbie here and hung on every thread and reply.

in the short time i've been here, many things i've learnt, many attitudes, many opinions, but the one thing i remember most of all is how i was welcomed here.

never ever underestimate how a simple hello can mean to a newbie.. j gull

I have no human contact! A CRY FOR HELP!

i live here in las vegas and for the past two months, with the expection of formalities like asking for directions and saying hello, i have had no human contact with anyone.

i am literality going insane!

Once I went to Bethel to visit an elderly brother and his wife. After a while the wife had to go down the hall to another room to borrow something. As the door closed behind her he literally jumped to his fet (no easy feat for him) to open the door so that we would not be alone in a room with a closed door.

Now I could see the reasonableness in this if he were a young, handsome man. However, on the contrary, this man was at least 75 years old, with a humped back and decidedly unattractive.

Was he afraid of me or afraid of himself? I don't know but I do know it was pretty hilarious!

i saw this on the local news last night.

i looked it up and it's true!!!.

an 8 year old being allowed to breast feed!!!!.

Eight years old is simply too old to be breast fed. We do not live in a third world country where nutritious food is scarse. We live in a country where food is readily available and that kid should be sitting down at the table with a knife, a fork and a steak. not suckling his mother's breast.

the card doesn't help me, but it doesn't matter, i have a full house.

so i have a pair of fives and on the table there is a king, nine, five, nine, and two.

Good luck on your test on Friday. You should pass this time because now you have an idea of what kind of questions they will ask.

I have been thinking about it. I know what will make you feel better. If you told us who it was from this forum who thought you were a girl I am sure that your whole day will suddenly appear brighter. So, what do you say? Gil?

Letter to my family

for several months now i have been writing back and forth to the service dept asking them to explain the difference between "those who simply leave the faith" and those who "went out" (disassociate).

the reason i am curious about this is because "those who simply leave the faith" are not shunned, however those who "went out" (disassociated) are shunned.

i have written twice and received two replies.

i need confirmation about a rumour i keep hearing about in my country.

several jw's who know about the wt-un affair are saying that in usa the wt is having the elders in the congregations give a speech accepting the blame for this scandal & asking for forgiveness or something similar.
