  How would you respond if a Witness tells you that you are "negative?"

  when i bring a subject up and then talk about old wt's or the blood fraction, i occasionally get that response.. yes, i know i can reply, "but i am telling you the truth.

  don't you want the truth?".

  but i am looking for something more subtle, something that can help a witness to get beyond their cognitive dissonance.. but without a standoff.

  when i move.. i always call the kindom hall and put my new address on their do not call list. i hate to see children soliciting religion - it really bums me out.

  Did there ever come a time where the meetings became unbearable?

  i try to attend about 3 sunday meetings per month just to keep my whole family from disowning me.

  every week the meetings become more difficult to attend.. the singing is awful,the prayers are all about the ''faithful and discreet slave''.the talks are boring and repetative.the watchtower study reminds of trained seals at the zoo where they do the same tricks over and over just so they can get their treat of fresh fish.

  the answers are short and read off the watchtower magazine word for word.

  Being born into it i do not remember a time that the meetings were enjoyable. early memories like oompa's - spankings for talking or not being able to sit still for the multiple hour meetings.... as a parent now - i see that it is so idiotic. to expect NORMAL children to be ABLE to sit and be quiet puh LEASE. then as an older child my brother was disfellowshipped..the whole congragation treated me like "poorly" i was 12 y/o. it didnt take long (15y/o) for me to get pulled in the back for my chance to tell the elders to f themselves, my life was none of their business. NEVER WENT BACK. and for the meetings,,, they were ALL unbearble, i have never been a person that was able to tolerate BS or fakey fake ppl or materialism (a lot of that there).

  IMO the most destructive "off" thing i see in our way of measuring is our rediculous Calendar... it off just enough to interfere (i.e. prevent) with a natural way of life. 13 moons divide quite nicely into 13, 28 day months.

  personally i think it will end with a whimper.

  i think that they will always have members, but after the "system" continues and more and more people get discouraged, df'd, da'd, or fade after a long enough time they will slowly continue to consilidate halls (lose members) until it finally get so small they eventually go by the wayside or switch to something like e-meetings or web-meetings or once yearly conventions.

  i think the WTS will not be able to continue to attract a base that will be intelligent or organized enough - awakening is happening. people now are becoming open to leaving religion all together i feel - maybe that just my wishful thinking. "non-believer" is a word that i am watching break into the collective conciousness - have you noticed too? it's validated, there really are a LOT of us

  so i say whimper. but i sure would enjoy watching it end with a big nasty bang! =) i'll admit to that.

  7 Congregations in My Area, VT, MA, NH, Have Been Cut to 3!!!

  i got this verified today.

  seven congregations that were in my old circuits now are only three.. north and south gardner, ma were merged.. north and south claremont, nh were merged.. north adams, ma and bennington, vt were merged.. the wilmington, vt congregation was dissolved.. there has been discussion to merge the keene and swanzey, nh congregations, but there are some strong personalities among the two bodies of elders opposing that, so it is not likely to happen, though i hear that keene has got some big problems in its boe and very poor service, etc.. that's 9 congregations within about a 70 mile radius that are all seeing some serious trouble.. anyone hearing anything similar happening where they are?.

  i'm sure i'm not having some great big ephinany that no one else thought of, but to me this is sorta big to realize:.

  so many people in both congregations i attended as a witness were soooooo depressed, severely, traumatizingly depressed, i would say.

  they would all comfort each other and say that satan was attacking them personally and their depression was proof of it, and that this was the "best place this side of paradise" they could be.
