JW Vultures!

my 45 year old son committed suicide in may, he was living in texas, i live in mississippi, he was raised here and had many family members and friends here so on june 4, i had his obituary run in our local paper...on june 6, i got a letter in the mail from a town 12 miles away, thinking it was from someone who knew him i opened it to find that it was from a jw who i do not know and it contained a typed note along with that damn when someone you love dies tract in it!

i was furious at the person who sent it until i thought about how brainwashed they are and how important it is for them to get their time in even if it's done in such a disgusting manner as reading the obituaries and imposing their screwed up beliefs on people like myself who are in pain and grieving the loss of their first born son!

i tore it to bits and put it in the trash where it belongs.

What was your WORST Field Service encounter???

someone mentioned to me the other day about going door to door back when i was a jw.

I had a gun pointed at me.......................fortunately, I have the ability to calm down agitated people quite quickly.

Wow Blondie!!! That's definitely a scary scenario. I'm glad that you were able to calm that guy down and that you are still with us!

Someone mentioned to me the other day about going door to door back when I was a JW.

"Weren't you scared to do something like that, knock on a stranger's door?"

Actually it's been so long that I had almost forgotten. But like so many other bad JW experiences that I'm sure we all have, those memories don't take long to resurface! I thought about Field Service and remembered being cussed at, called names and of course having some doors slammed in my face.

But the worst that I personally knew about was when someone poured water from an upstairs window down on a couple of JWs that were standing at their door, in the middle of January!

Anyone else experience something similar or worse than this in Field Service?

i like southern comfort, and rebel yell.

I have to agree bigdreaux, those are two other favorites of mine as well. But I can't find any Rebel Yell in my neck of the woods anymore!!!

my name is dawn and i'm a ex-jw, who has been out since l976.

i live in michigan, was born and raised here but also spent about 3 years in austin, texas (1 of them as a witness - the other two running amouk having fun).

i just spent the last 2 1/2 hours on the phone with my dear old buddy, dave, (seven006) whom i've heard some of you know.

80 year old grandma (Mouthy) gets hit on at lunch!

so, today mary and i took mouthy out for lunch.

it was a buffet place.

i was walking behind mouthy and we walked by an older gentleman.

As we were leaving the resturant, guess who held the door for us?? The same gentleman! This time he commented again about Mouthy being pretty, and having such pretty daughters! We started laughing again, Mary put her arm around Mouthy and said "yes she does!"

hey BB, I didn't know that you were related to Mouthy and Mary!!! LOL

oh and just for the record, if I was that "gentleman" I would have hit on you too BB!!!
