Both theories lack rationality on their own... Humans only "recently" discovered that the Earth isnt flat... I doubt we have come so far to know where entire universe comes from and how it all happened. Refusal to accept the fact that we dont know all the answers is a sign of blindness. ... Typical human stubborness.

Let's just get something straight about 1975.
by WTFBBQPWNT innobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.
in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?
there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

If they never claimed it, then why even mention a certain year? What kind of statement is that: The world can end in 1975! Why '75? (Why only 75?) That seems to be a bit more than general guessing. It sounds more like certainty when dates and numbers are involved.

Now about masturbation... I could never quite understand how J.W.s proved thats wrong??? I can understand the no-sex-before-marriage part and respect it (even though I dont believe in it,) but does the Bible even mention masturbation? Can someone enlighten me, please?

Help me corner them!
by Sam87 inhi everyone, just would like a bit of advice on how to 'corner' my ex jw mates so they see im right with only what their publications say and with the bible?
i have a few ideas up my sleave but i was hoping to get a few other good examples on other topics like the blood thing, but only prove them wrong using their material, that way they cant say its 'apostate' (although you never know what some jws will come up with these days).. for example whats the best and least confusing way to explain the blood thing?
we really need a reference on all of this so that we can make up a single letter that exsplains everything that they have contradicted themselves with and all the mixed up stuff they have done, straight to the point and soooo simple that even a jw can read and understand it (maybe a nice picture book with colouring in?).

Basically, what they said was that people and animals will be vegetarians because "death will be no more". Which makes sense... (since meat is dead animal...) .... But how is it possible to support that idea while chewing on a big steak? That was my point. What about "practice what you preach" ? Why bother doing anything right in this life if the ideals from the Bible are saved strictly for paradise? (because some seem to be).
Yes, I know they'll have some great answer for this and I'll just sit there clueless... Oh well... I can't resist. ;)

That's exactly how I feel, but religion is not science, or technology. There's no need for facts when it's all based on belief. Its impossible to prove anyone's religious idea right or wrong. And yet somehow it always seems that other ppl's interpretations of the Bible or our definition of God is wrong, simply because THEY have to be right. Its an evil circle... you're wrong because I'm right because you're wrong because I'm right.... I tried discussing Koran and Bhagavad Gita with two very nice ladies who visited. Man was I wrong! They completely dismissed it as fairytales and false religion (while smiling politely).

To wait or not to wait?

from time to time (in last sundays wt lesson for example) i read in the magazines or hear brothers say this in their talks.
(with some variation) arent we grateful that jehovah has waited this long before loosing armageddon on mankind?

bjc2012, I asked a question similar to that of the original poster, when JW came to my door. They told me about a 1000 year period after Armageddon- when ppl who never heard of J. will get a chance to choose. Its still pretty cruel to let innocent children die though simply because the time has come. Which I also mentioned, but they gave me that "Oh-she-has-so-much-left-to-learn" - look, without offering a reasonable explanation.
