IMHO - It is definitely "terrible" and a scam but I don't know if I would consider it a MLM. My father's family recently gave them their inheritance of about $600,000. It doesn't matter that his JW kids are struggling to survive and could have used his share if he didn't want it. (His x-JW kids could have used some too.) - - - I think the WTBTS has really learned how to scam the old people out of their money. But they are much more subtle about it than the TV evangelists.

Is the Organization just a terrible MLM MULTI LEVEL MARKETING
by avidbiblereader inif you ran a business based on how much literture that has been printed which i would like to know about (just a rough guestimate) how much literture has been printed compared to how many witnesses are still left, don't you think this is a terrible ran business?
how much money do they spend annually on bethelites, co;s, do's and special pioneers and missionaries.
don't you think this is just a terribly ran business.

Worship The Only True God----PDF!
by Atlantis in(credits go to proplog2 and metatron) http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/31661/1.ashx .
as metatron posted 2 months ago the watchtower doesn't mention anything about blood in the new book "worship the only true god".. this is a very important book because it is recommended as a "deeper" study aid for those contemplating baptism.
the united in true worship book had 24 chapters.

This is trivial but someone not long ago pointed out how inappropriately the people in the illustrations were dressed in the WTS literature. I see in this new book many of the women have on pants!! - - - Poor guy on page 182 looks like he quit his job and sold his house cause the big A was coming so SOON and finally quit shaving and gave up.

If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest. Ex 22:25 - - - Doesn't the WTBTS charge interest on loans to congregations, (even poor ones?)

Baptism and At What Age?
by karnage ini have seen and noticed that most people who are raised as jw's get baptized at a young age.
ages like 14-19. how is it that someone can dedicate their life to jehovah at these ages, when maturity is still in development?
this seems to be something that jw's push and practice on a regular basis.

I was baptised at 12. I wasn't forced - I just felt it was expected. I firmly do not believe there was a proper "dedication" prior to the baptism so I consider mine to be Null & Void. Since baptism is only the outward symbol of the private dedication, it is the dedication that is most important IMO. Back when I was 12 there were no prior study questions - you just showed up at the assembly with your bathing suit and answered a couple questions with the group at the baptism talk.

It does often pay to make a valid complaint against companies that have failed to provide proper service. I went to www.consumer.gov and looked in the Consumer Action Handbook to see if I could find you a corporate address for RCA but it was not listed. You can file a written complaint to your State Attorney General's office. Get a copy of the UPS documentation showing it was delivered to the Service Center and include that with your complaint. You can also order a free copy of the Consumer Action Handbook on that website. Click on the yellow book on the bottom section of the main page. It has lots of good consumer info about lots of topics. It's also online but I still like the feel of paper in my hands.

Also keep in mind that article was written in 1991 just after they joined the United Nations and were required to promote and support the UN. This very cleverly worded piece would satisfy the UN's requirement and at the same time be read by JWs as something totally different. (IMHO)

I was allowed very limited access to non-JW kids. No sports. The high school I went to 8 - 10th grades had an excellent music dept. I ended up in a string quartet so got to go with the teacher and quartet to other high schools and play in larger orchestras. Once we moved from that school I was in a rural area with nothing. I was not allowed to work on one school project because one kids father was a minister and we were to use a room in the church to put the project together. I was allowed to work on the Prom committee and decorate for the party was not allowed to go to it. - - - I was the first JW to graduate from that school in decades and the teachers were going out of their way to accomodate my stupid requirements. They ended up having us stand up for one thing and then while we were already standing they played the national anthem so I wouldn't be the only person to be sitting in front of everyone at the graduation. I remember appreciating their efforts to not embarrass me in front of hundreds of people. - - - I tried to make sure my kids had lots of friends, they were very active in 4-H, some sports and went to to their Proms.

Did you really avoid eating food with possible blood in it?
by JH inwhen i joined in the mid 80's, many jw's really read the label to make sure there were no blood by products in the food.. then a few years later, they didn't make a fuss about that anymore.. i guess that today, jw's eat just about anything..

I also remember my mother checking food labels to make sure she didn't buy anything with lecithin in it. That must have been in the late 50s or early 60s. That apparently was a big deal at that time. Someone or something told them not to eat lecithin.
