  Washington Mutual reverting to previous bad behavior after bail out by fed!

  i posted this on burn the ships' thread but there was a lot more going on so i think it was missed.. washington mutual was on the verge of of failing.

  the fed overnight comes in and promises to buy out all bad mortgage debt so that banks could free up credit and make their bottom line look better for the stock market.

  the stock market buys in and ups it self by 400 points.

  Both of the WAMU institutions are owned by the holding company Washington Mutual, Inc. The same website is used for all (www.wamu.com). This is normal that the holding company has the website and you access their institutions from the same site.

  What used to irritate me so bad when I worked for the federal regulator of national banks is that it appears some banks try real hard to make specific information like this not too obvious. The different addresses are just processing offices. As a matter of fact, the full name of the bank should be on your Cardholder Agreement but most people probably don't read those very closely or keep them handy.

  I'm curious now & have sent them an email asking which institution issues their credit cards. Will let you know if I get a response.

  Providian used to be a national bank and 'in my opinion' was using terrible deceptive practices in issuing some of their credit card accounts. They were finally fined and later closed and the accounts sold.

  Another thing to keep in mind is there are two institutions that have similar names - -

  WASHINGTON MUTUAL BANK FSB, PARK CITY, Utah has a very good rating and does not appear to be in trouble.

  I was born in a fanatical wacky cult that didnt believe in education or fun. So it started in infancy.

  Sounds like me too. My parents were both pioneers.

  The first I remember is practicing field circus when I was about 4 yrs old knocking on all the doors INSIDE our house and pretending to offer litterature.

  I was there in 1958 - almost 10 yrs old.

  All I remember about NY is how dirty it seemed. Maybe that perception was just of a child stuck in 8 full days of torment.

  Wonder if that number included all the overflow crowd at Polo Grounds or just the ones in Yankee Stadium.

  Mario Beltrami and Aluminum

  we had this circuit and district overseer named mario beltrami.

  every time he came to visit our congregation.... it was announced:.

  for whoever invites the co to dinner, be warned he cannot eat food cooked in aluminum (allergic).. after reading stuff on the internet that witnesses had cooky theories on aluminum being poison and such...... do you think this guy truly was allergic, or was it witness mumbo jumbo?.

  I got deathly ill as a child after eating with a family that cooked in aluminum. When I was in my middle 20s I took some left over pizza to work wrapped in aluminum foil. It was out of the fridge long enough for the tomato sauce to react with the aluminum foil. Within a couple hours I was so sick I couldn't even drive myself home. I had to lay across the back seat of my car in the parking lot with my head hanging out the door (throwing up).

  I never use foil to wrap any acidic food in. I also would never cook in aluminum pots just because of the times I got so sick.

  Apparently there are some people that are more sensitive to it.

  Being raised a JW I naturally believed there was nothing - just 'sleep' - peace and quiet (which doesn't sound all that bad sometimes.)

  However, I am reading the book, "Closer To The Light, Learning From the Near-Death Experiences of Children" by Melvin Morse, M.D.

  Interesting stuff. Can't say it has convinced me there is an afterlife but it does sound intriguing and when I die if something like that happens at least I will understand what's going on.

  Personally, I never did like the idea of dead people being in heaven looking down watching me. I never understood why believing that comforted some people.

  i was not impressed.

  on the 3rd anniversary of katrina, and now the same area possibly threatened by gustov i find the following quote in the article infuriating.

  .....sorry if someone has posted about this before.. "the volunteers repaired more than 5,600 homes of fellow believers and 90 kingdom halls, the meeting places of jehovah's witnesses.

  How stupid do JWs have to be to believe Jehovah provided equipment needed to repair buildings after a hurricane but he continues to let the children be raped & molested !!!

  Things like this make me soooo mad !!!
