In my experience, they could care less. I actually had a friend who was a respected elder call the JC and tell them my doctor did not recommend adding any further stress since I was recovering from two back-to-back hospital stays. They backed down for a week, but it really did not matter to them what I was going through even though I was no threat to anyone and had not been to a meeting (aside from the Memorial) in over a year. I think it matters if they are still human and have some compassion left in their shriveled souls.
Good luck with that!

Judicial Question: To All Active Elders..Or Those Requested to Meet...
by Lady Liberty indear friends,.
i have a question, that i was hoping someone out there would be able to answer: .

Australia
by FreeGirl2006 inanyone on the board from sydney, australia?
i am looking into maybe relocating there from the us.
i am an accountant and that is one profession that has a shortage over there.

There is paperwork to fill out to determine whether I met the accountant qualifications over there. On the surface it appears that I do according to the NIA website. I still have much research to do and yes, I would love to visit to make sure it would be a good fit before taking the final step of actually moving there.
Lani--any information you could provide on rent/mortgage costs, typical utility bills, grocery costs would be useful. I am more a city girl than suburb girl so if I could afford it, I would prefer to live where the action is work and social wise.
I have not thought of Melbourne so maybe I will look at that location too.
Thanks guys! You are the best.

another story
by mentalclearness inwell learning to fly's story inspired me to write this one...it happened to my extended family...well here goes...our family is very deep rooted in the organization....like in the proclaimers book...part of history...anyways, this one famous "brother" had several children and was an active witness throughout his life..enjoying the type of notoriety that comes from being part of jw history and having a recognizable last name...one day we find out he has died...and apparently it wasn't an accident because he left a note....of course other family members try to say he mixed his medicine...but why the note???
well soon after one of his daughters is super depressed and tries to commit suicide.
she is also a witness...slowly after much therapy seems she gets her memory back and remembers that good old dad sexually abused her until she got her period...turns out he did this to all his children....of course all of them had blocked out the memories but all had problems with their husbands in the sexual department...they all began remembering incidences as well...so in the end, this brother that everyone looked up and thought was so wonderful was just another sick pedophile who raped all his kids and committed suicide.

Pedophiles seem quite drawn to the Borg and I guess since they get carte blanc with the two witness rule and oh yeah, they cry so they can't possibly be guilty of that heinous sort of conduct! I am so not surprised to hear stories like this one. I lived it. Mr. Elder at the hall and brutal abuser at home. Great childhood and somehow I kept convincing myself that it just was not Jehovah's time to step in....

My Story
by LearningToFly inhello fellow forum members, i am very new here, and feel it is time to share a little about myself.
this site has gotten me quite riled up again, and even after many years my experience is not memorable and still upsets me when i think of it.
my beginning experience of joining the jw organization at age 6 was not unpleasant at all, and was not for many years.

Learning to Fly, I don't cry easy anymore because it seemed that I spent most of my life in the borg crying, but your story made it happen. When I read your story, well, it is very similar to mine. I am so glad you found the strength to survive the vile behavior of family and congregation elders. Freegirl2006

3 months, not even a phone call about my late mother from the Dubs.....
by WingCommander inso......it has been 3 months since my mother passed away and not one, not one witness has called, stopped by, or even sent a card to me!
it hit me today.
i mean, i must have gotten like 50 sympathy cards in the mail from her worldly relatives and co-workers, as well as numerous phone calls, but not one witness has done anything!

Sounds like we have all had similar experiences. It is sickening the lack of love displayed toward the "lesser" members of the congregation. I remember when I asked the elders why not one of them came to see me the three years I was in bed, doped up on a bucket load of medications and in/out of the hospital for surgeries. The loving reply? "You can't expect to be shown love if you are on the fringe of the congregation." I said, "Excuse me, but I was not on the fringe of the congregation (ie--next to inactive/totally inactive by their definition)until I became seriously ill." The love just radiates off of them. I had more calls, cards and visits from "worldly" relatives and workmates than I did from the loving brotherhood. So glad I am out of the loveless borg. The friends in my life now call or email me every day to see how I am doing...don't think that ever happened the entire 30 years I was part of the borg.

Damaging property and driveways in Field Service. The good old days.
by Open mind injust got done reading b_deserter's partial life story and it sent me drifting down memory lane.
this is a long, rambly story, so if you're not in the mood, i'd recommend clicking on another thread.. did you happen to grow up in "god's country?
" you know, a rural or semi-rural part of the country that is far superior morally to the "sin den" i moved to, california?

One time out in "God's Country", we pulled up to a trailer in the middle of nowhere. I was glad no one was home because I imagine they would have come out with a gun since they used marijuana as a nice border plant in their flower beds. Since I grew up in the middle of moonshine country....we had many a gun escorts off the premises with the recommendation to forget that we found that road. Nothing like the "good ole days" of door-to-door torture.

Were You Ever Afraid That You Might've Made The Wrong Decision In Leaving??

Hmmm...well, I went from 30+ years of unhappiness to happiness in a short period of time. I would much rather have some happiness and then take a dirt nap (if that is my outcome) than live life under a Nazi-Elder regime now and in a paradise/hell governed by same. So, no doubts!
