I love the part from the scanned pages how doctors and psychiatrists are imperfect and their views change....isn't that called "new light"?

The Bible and Masturbation...4000 years of inspired input and no scriptures about it ?
by smiddy inmy philosophy when i was a teenager :"those who admit to it are stupid ,those who deny it are liars" that was my response to peers who posed such a subject when i was a teen .now, being a mature aged person i think this subject could do with a bit more enlightened content.. i am a male so i can`t speak for the females ,who, i hope will give their input on this topic for discussion.and i mean it as a serious discussion.. males experience erections from the time they are babies and the natural thing to do is to hold it , and before you know it fondling it gives you releif.. society doesnt help by making you feel guilty and like shit as a dirty person.why in the world do babes ,young children ,young boys get erections before they even know what it`s function is for.
if a god designed sex for procreation then surely this wouldnt become an issue until they reached the age of puberty ,not when a male is still a baby.. and getting back to my op nowhere in the bible does it talk about masturbation which surely has been going on since adam was a boy/man.. i`m sorry, but to deny that you would have to be a complete idiot ,imbecile ,fool ,or just brain dead.. so for 4000 years of inspired scriptures from god ,nothing is said about a condition that effects every man from his birth to his death .. makes you wonder doesn`t it ?.
smiddy.

Has leaving the truth( i hate that word) caused you to do things now that you would not have normally done ?
by sieborg inalthough we all know that there are many disadvantages of being brought up ( vomit sound) in the truth.

I got my Master's degree, started my own business, enjoy sleeping in on the weekends, love visiting new places without concerning myself with where and when the meetings are, found true love, became interested in the world and all the advancements being made, lost the requisite judgemental attitude and developed true compassion...and so much more. Did I mention I am happy? I discovered what that really feels like.

Misquotes, Lies and deception in Watchtower Publications
by jwfacts ini have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
there have also been a number of requests over the years for such a collection.

Definitely can relate to your frustrations as I need a reboot on 2013 also but for different reasons. I like to think that I am getting all the yucky crap out of the way so the rest of the year is smooth sailing and fantastic....rock bottom means you can only be upwardly mobile. Anyway, hope things start to look brighter and I think the advice to fake it til you make it is spot on.

When the elders finally deigned to talk to the now ex-hub and I about the marital issues, they never once cracked open a bible. Their sage encouragement was to stop seeing the marriage counselor and to take a long weekend out of town without the children. I left the room.
Gladiator- love that story and so indicative of how willing the elders are to have others make the sacrifices. Good job making him squirm.

The lunatic fringe
by FreeGirl2006 ini am usually a lurker here, but i got a blast from the past yesterday and it prompted me to post on here.
my former sister-in-law is part of the lunatic fringe that even most die-hard dubs cringe at.. so i received some business correspondence from ms. looney toons yesterday and at the very bottom is the note "read your bible daily.
" i started remembering some of the crazy she inflicted on all of us around her.

No worries lp. I thought I should clarify in case others misunderstood who was wearing the gloves in July! I think that summer Crazy ended up going out in the misery service by herself because no one wanted to be seen with her dressed as she was.

@ lp--the mother wore the gloves. My ex saw her without the gloves and no bruising, no anything to explain the gloves. He asked her what was up with it and she told him that she wished everyone at the Hall would quit bugging her about them, she just wanted to wear them.

So I received some business correspondence from Ms. Looney Toons yesterday and at the very bottom is the note "Read your bible daily." I started remembering some of the crazy she inflicted on all of us around her. She would show up at school for lunch every day for her teen daughter so she would not be tempted to have bad association, she would take the phone cord with her when she left the house (re:teen daughter), she wore full length gloves and rain boots out in service (well, everywhere actually) during the height of summer in the mid-west for no known reason. She would show up at my house when I was newly married and just sit on the couch. I guess I should explain that during lunch, my ex and I would meet at home for some time alone and she would pop in every single freakin day and just sit on the couch and stare at us.
Her teen daughter moved in with the ex and I for a while (else she was going to run away). My niece-in-law started to actually smile and act like a normal teen (and sadly I was able to even get her to participate in the meetings willingly--wonder if she ever forgave me that). Well Psycho-mom just couldn't handle the lovely changes in her daughter and put an end to the arrangement forcing her to move back home and niece became depressed and morose once again. Psycho-mom decided she needed to home school the teen and her youngest daughter and she mostly used JW pubs (not sure how that worked with state regs, but she seemed to get away with it). Psycho-mom is not well educated so the quality of that home schooling is beyond awful. The youngest child (aged 8 at the time) begged me one day not to send her home with her mom--I cried.
We thankfullly moved away from the Crazy, but she rears her psychotic head in my life every once in a while. I hope the youngest will eventually have an opportunity to be a normal socialized person, but I think the damage is rather deep. I wonder if I did enough, but there were no signs of physical abuse, just whacked out emotional abuse due to lack of parenting. Maybe I should have called social services at the time? We all tried to temper her psychosis with a semblance of normality when we had the girls away from their mother.
Anyone else have some lunatic fringe in their dub closet?
