If it wasn't for religion, there would be no atheists.
by Bonnie_Clyde inclyde and i were discussing all the atrocities and wars that were fought in the name of religion, and he made an interesting comment, "if it wasn't for religion, there would be no atheists.
" i've been thinking about that for several days.
i was once a true believer, but my faith has been so shaken that i am on the verge of questioning his very existence.

Witnesses Irritate Me And Suck
by minimus ini just wanted to say that and if you agree please feel free to express yourself.

I did agree and do sometimes, but it makes me sort of sad and disturbed too. Like when I checked out the elephant and lion with the kids and the plastic bubbles, I laughed for like a half a second and then my heart clutched when I thought of my dear mom looking at the same pic and believing with all her heart and wishing I had never left because it's getting harder to picture me there. I mean, I like to get mad and irritated, but in reality, she really believes it, and that's not something I can get mad at, that's sad.

Were you ever "all in"?
by nonamegiven infor those of us here who are xjw's for varying degrees (df's, ds'd or just faded away {the greatest feat of all}) looking back to your years as an active jw, were you ever 100% mentally?
i thought i was but looking back when i was a ms and being groomed for elder i was very zealous but still didn't like field service but loved helping out.
now i look back i see i was just looking for acceptance from other, not serving god.. i would elaborate but i plan on posting "my story" soon.. how about you?.

I was all in like abandoned. The only way I was able to leave is because I did everything I absolutely could to make it work, except taking care of the "real problem" with suicide. I drew the line there temporarily, now it's not even a thought. I had doubts, but I never seriously entertained them until I reached max capacity at 21 and just stopped.

Me, back then, knowing what I know now. I went to relieve pressure on my parents - even though I had moved out 2 years prior. Got DF'd, has screwed my relationship to this day, 7 years later.

If you were still serving Jehovah...
by Honesty injust think of all the fun work that he would have you doing after armageddon.. a devout jw has some thoughts on this.
are you able to read the following without getting ?.
reading between the lines shows just how much compassion the watchtower society instills in its devoted proponents:.

Hey Clam, Were you lame enough to watch a movie called "Devil's Rain" in its entirety? I was! They have that same church blowing up. That wind is pretty strong, her skirt might blow up up up. I wonder if there were any sexy pics in the publications that people would stare at while the meeting droned on. That harlot with her red nails and wine dripping out of her mouth on the back of that beast was pretty hot!

If I had a god, he would be like a good luck dragon from the never ending story and we would fly around and put all the dubs in dumpsters. 80s childhood alert! I like the idea of chalkboard punishment. If I had a god, he would hold their hearts in a bath of orgasmic love and happiness until they cried out all their fears and hate and fell asleep like baby seals - so I could club their brains out! No, I need to go to bed now. You guys are the best.

Why Jehovah's Witness do not want to see the flaws within the religion

happy birthday uwishufish! Hey wanderer, I like the closing comments - about perspective and learning instead of lively. I forgot the questions! ha ha sorry. I really can't explain how I did it, but I did. I know it can be done. So not helpful, I know. But, I thought about keeping a diary and writing a Xu Explains It All! Nickelodeon show. But, uh, it was too dark and painful some days. Going through it was the only way to get to the other side and I'm so happy I put in the work. I used to journal to get stuff out, but when I read it, I ended up throwing it away or burning it. Ok, reread the ?'s. JW's and logical are only on the same line in a book of antonyms. Oil and water. And for me, it was more like separating my intellect from my inner core so that I could follow my heart and intuition to do what was in my best interest. My intellect didn't help me with the big healing, it was an impediment. As far as intellectually getting over the jw bs, In Search of Christian Freedom. Wow. Love and appreciate that guy.

Why all the Athiest/Christian bashing?
by AK - Jeff ini know i am different than many, and though i accept christianity, i just don't understand the constant debate and haggle over the matter.
not a week goes by without one side starting a fight with the other, then the other retorts with it's position.
lots of wordsmiths appear and try to reason above the other persons head, and make naked accusations about an entire class of persons unknown.

I'm guilty of it - I think I just got done doing it on another thread (kind of). I think I struggle with it because maybe if you think you've gone from A to B - you look back at everyone you think is still in A and it really bothers you. Even though you were just there, you think if you've gone off and 'progressed' in your own thinking, then it's about d%$# time everyone else did too. It is a leftover of the jw drama. I have the hardest time respecting my family's belief in the jws. It makes them happy, it didn't make me happy. That's ok, but it doesn't always feel that way. I feel like Paul who became Saul. I just wanna be "I'm ok, you're ok". History repeats itself. As soon as this page is full of other subjects - bam! the struggle continues.

What do you think about gays and abortion now.......................?????
by vitty inwhen you saw the wt for what it was and realized it was not the truth, how did that affect your thoughts on subjects like homosexuality or abortion for example.. did you start to think differently suddenly or did it take a long time ?.................or maybe you havent changed your minds on what the wt condemns.. i was quite shocked at how i accepted my teenage son was sexually active and i talked to him about condoms and this being an important thing in his and gfs life and where they sure they were ready.
i didnt tell him not to do it !.
actually i think i always had my thoughts on different subjects that werent in line with the org, i just pushed what i really thought to the back of my mind.. there are many different subjects name one that you relate to.. .

Agnostic/Atheist/Religion
by Free ini feel that since i have lost all faith in the society, i feel myself drifting further and further into more agnosticism / atheistic thinking.i am finding it harder every day to believe in a god or holy scripture.
i actually feel more at peace now not feeling like someone is watching me.
religion now rings a wicked song in my head that sings of control, power, money, greed, and endless seas of falsehood.
