Ok folks. I'm doing research on DF'ing and need help. I tried to copy and paste info from the Insight book into a post but it doesn't work. So, if you could be so kind, the Insight book (p. 787-788) brings our some good points on DF'ing that seem to support it. Some just don't fit like pointing to Adam and Eve to support DF'ing. This is a totally different situation as far as I'm concerned. But some do seem to work. Likethe angels that sinned were thrown into Tartarus (2 Peter 2:4) and Achan being put to death for stealing something that was devoted to Jah (Jos 7:15, 20, 21, 25).

I tried twice to put that info directly into this post but it can't be done without re-typing. I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

I'm trying to figure out 2 things,

1) Is DF'ing biblical (and if so, what was DF'ing in the bible)?

2) To what extent should a DF'd person shunned?

as many as 485 suits are still pending.. to make the payments, the archdiocese may unload some of its roughly 1,600 area properties, valued at $4 billion, the los angeles times reported today.. while most of the properties are devoted to churches and schools, the archdiocese also owns oil wells, farm parcels, parking lots, and commercial buildings.. the debate over whether to sell the land is likely to focus on who controls parish holdings - church officials or the parishioners.. seeking to limit the plaintiffs' access to archdiocese assets, cardinal roger mahony has claimed that churches and schools belong to individual parishes, and officials do not have the authority to sell them.. but church scholars said mahony has nearly unchecked authority to liquidate church property, ultimately answering only to the pope.. "the cardinal can sell whatever he wants," said charles zech, an economics professor at villanova university.

"each bishop or each cardinal is the 'pope' of his archdiocese.".

It's no secret that WTBS is sitting on some VERY valuable real estate in Brooklyn. With all this downsizing there surely will be some buildings available for sale.

How many studies were started????

i was thinking last night of alot of the bs i've heard from the platform over the years and i thought of a real doosie and figured i'd post it for you all.

we had our co visit a few months ago.

in his opening talk he was encouraging the stepford congregation by regailing us with experiences from his visit with our sister congregation the week prior.

I was thinking last night of alot of the BS I've heard from the platform over the years and I thought of a real doosie and figured I'd post it for you all.

We had our CO visit a few months ago. In his opening talk he was encouraging the ~~Stepford~~ congregation by regailing us with experiences from his visit with our sister congregation the week prior. He noted that they started 30-sumthin' bible studies in that one week! Now, I was shocked, we live in a semi-rural area and it's hard to get 30 people home in a month so to start 30 bible studies??? Then I started thinking about last weeks episode of Prison Break and Survivor and the next thing you know, it's time to go home (is ADD always a bad thing?). Anyway, during a talk later in the week he had a few demonstrations on how to start effective bible studies, though THIS TIME he called them "door step bible studies". I suppose this was brighter light since they were just run-of-the-mill bible studies a few days ago and now they are called something different. Anyway, the demo went somethng like this:

Housholder: Can I help you?

Lemming: Good morning. I'm involved in a volunteer work and am asking the question, Do you think the end of false religion is near?

Householder: I don't know.

Lemming: Well, this magazine shows us that it is indeed near. Let me read this paragraph from page 3.

Householder: Interesting.

Lemming: These are your copies to keep.

Householder: Thank you.

Lemming: I'd like to stop by in a few days to see if you had any questions.

HH: OK.

Lemming: Have a nice day!

That's it! That's a bible study! Are people really dumb enough to think that that constitutes a bible study?? BTW, Our congregation started like 60 or something.

Oh the innocence of a child

last night i came home from work and my kids were over someones house from our congregation.

when they brought them home the family came in.

of course no body talked to me since i'm df'd and am not worth the oxygen to talk to.

Last night I came home from work and my kids were over someones house from our congregation. When they brought them home the family came in. Of course no body talked to me since I'm DF'd and am not worth the oxygen to talk to. The little (8-year old ?) girl went around telling people a few knock-knock jokes that she thought were just hillarious. Well, then she came up to me and said "knock knock" so of course I went along with it and she told me the joke. There was an erie silence in the room as her mom looked at her I'm sure thinking of how she will correct her for talking to me. I thought it was great! Not only did I actually get treated like a human but I hope the fact that this little girl did what comes natural, i.e. talking to me, this will show them how unnatural this whole shunning crap is.

Suicide is a VERY bad thing.....

that is the conclusion i've come to.

up until then, and because of my own depressed feelings, i have felt differently.

Hugs to you and those affected by this tragedy. Especially her dear daughter. I fight with depression and have come closer to suicide than I care to think about now. Like you (if I understand your post) I was helped to see the reality of it. A brother in my hall was a window washer (a JW who is a window washer????) and he jumped off a building one afternoon. Nobody has a clue as far as I know. Anyway, seeing his wife and son deal with it showed me what my actions would do to my wife and kids. Please let this experience, as bad as it is, always be a reminder to you that you are indeed loved and that life is something to be cherished no matter what we are going through at the moment.

Having a hard time with this, what to do, what to do

for those who don't know my story (look up past posts, i posted it) here's the cliff's notes.. i was df'd about 10 weeks ago for things other than apostacy.

i plan in being reinstated to keep communication with my family (wife and i were raised in the........tr......tru.........truth) so i am still going to the meetings.. well, for any that don't know my wife had a baby thursday woo-hoo!

anyway, the cong we are in is actually fairly loving and it's quite a shock to me since it's very different from what i have experienced for the last 30+ years.

i have just received the transcript of the disfellowship appeal meeting from a person i know from a recording he took.

it is quite typical in the condescension of the elders.

unfortunately he did not record the initial meeting.

And THIS my friends, is the bottom line. My JC was just an opportunity to punish and NOT to help. When I was at my JC and for a day or two after I was 100% receptive to any help they may have offered, in fact really looking for that help. When I quickly realized that they weren't trying to help me that really pushed me away. Then the doubts I'd been pushing away for many years surfaced and I started to research them.

Here I am now. I see where the JW brand of help led me and for that, I am truly greatful.

i just emailed the dr. phil show with significant aspects of my story--not just the jw stuff but with being a large part of the complicated picture and said i would be willing to air my issues on their show.

the hidden horrors of marital sex abuse and of sleep-rape, specifically, must be exposed to the general public.

too many believe that it's not even possible to rape a sleeping woman...and they are soooo wrong, as my firsthand experience attests!!!

did you ever get cheated

i have bought and sold and refinanced homes for over 25 years and never had any problem at all using " worldly people" and their businesses.. the only time i tried to use a brother ( an elder ) it was a big fiasco.. everything went wrong and i threatned to turn him in to the authority because of his cheating and lying and unethical way of doing business.. luckily i caught it before the closing and did not go thru with it but at least 5 other families got screwed out of 1000's , money that was needed badly.. .

he is still serving as an elder .

did you have similar experience and get to a point that you did not want to use the brothers anymore?.

I a certified mechanic and for years I did lots of work for the "friends", most of the time I didn't charge anything but I would accept what they had to offer. I remember doing suspension rebuilds (a few days of solid work there) for a dinner at thier house. That didn't tick me off because I didn't ask for anything. But there were 2 times I did MAJOR work on a car including an engine rebuild. I never got anything besides a thank you. There have been a few other times that I was actually screwed by JW's but no more than "worldly people". But, aren't JW's supposed to be better than the world??
