just thinking ..... having read posts from youknow concerning the impending financial destruction of the system it strikes me that he and other witnesses have a very strong desire for the system to end even looking for ways in which it could happen.

they will clutch at any straw, salivating at the prospect of their imagined reward.. at the meetings last year at the time of the petrol crisis in the uk witnesses were eager to discuss the possibility that this was the start of the tribulation, there was a real buzz of excitement that this could be it!

now ... the question is this, does the 'truth' cost you your humanity because not one of them gave a stuff for their neighbours, worldly friends, relatives or even any of the people in the street.

like many of you i dedicated many years of my life searching for the "true" faith or religion.. after researching and considering religion i came to the conclusion that there is not such.

i decided to worship god in my own temple.

Science vs. Spirituality?

i originally posed this question to jh in another thread, and now i'm wondering how other atheists -- especially the hardcore ones -- here would answer it.

this isn't about proving or disproving any particular viewpoint, but just an attempt to understand a mindset that seems... well... beyond my understanding.

<g> first, though, here are a couple of terms defined as used in the context of my inquiry.. science: the objective study of the natural world.. spirituality: an intangible aspect of nature/the universe (including humanity) that may or may not include belief in any deity, but which is merely a general sense that something more is out there, and also within us.

There is not such a thing like Science vs. Spirituality....because there are two different disciplines.

Let's see what the dictionary says:

Incorrect to use the term "Jehovah's Witne...

i'm sure this has been brought up before, but it gives me the willies(brrrrrr!

) to say the...jw words.

since i don't believe they are god's witnesses, then i can't say the words.

The "Judge" was the one that came with the term JW's after a sleepless nite thinking what to say in the Bible Student's Convention.

Again he claimed "angels" talked to him and "inspired" his already deviated mind to come up with such a name.

Its of no avail to try to find logical explanations to man made religion over their names and dogamas.

of the corrupt rulership of the elderly king, solomon.. --- you can read about it at 1kings 11:14,23-39.. the term apostasy comes from "to stand away from, rebellion",.

so "resister" can easily act as a synonym for apostate, here.. also, jehovah created dis-unity among israel by deliberately.

Religion is an intangible which people use as a "crutch"/"drug" to numb their senses. No matter what faith you may have you can't prove something that you believe as real.

I'm 52 years old and studied the religion syndrome and always comes to faith = no evidence

I believe that there is a Force behind everything that exists but religion has no a logical explanation to it.

Only the naive and hard core JW's can swallow their religion as being "spirit directed" or the "truth".

The 20th century left them without "due dates" and a re-make of the film: Neverending Story.

My brother pledge with me not to bring the subject of his religion any more, he has no answers and he needs the "fix" to keep living. By his own words !!!

Religion is a drug and an old communist said: " Religion is the opium of the people".
