  i agree that everyone should have the right to practice thier own religion, as long as it doesn't interfere with another person right to privacy and right to not be harassed in their own home by those who feel they have the better religion.. the door to door work of jws is harassment, when you consider that they call for the most part in the morning, univited to talk about why there religion is the right one and often have very bad things to say about other belief systems, which has the potential of disturbing the peace.

  so at the bookgroup, the study coductor gives us all a stern warning.

  if we receive a turkey - refuse it.

  dont accept xmas dinner invitations from work etc.

  Your bookgroup "conductor" "overseer" has overstepped his bounds. The wts does not tell you what to do in these situations. It's up to you whether you want to accept the money/turkey.

  JW's and John 5:23

  has anyone on this board ever used john 5:23 when talking to jw's?.

  unfortunately, one of my friends is currently in a "bible" study with the jw's (and has been since last year).

  i asked my friend to ask the jw what john 5:23 means, so my friend did ask the jw who was conducting the "bible" study.

  The principal Hebrew term denoting "honor" literally means "heaviness." So a person who is honored is regarded as being weighty, or amounting to something.

  Can honor then not be given to Jesus and Jehovah equally?

  well in the bible it says said by jesus christ himself... that "the true religion will be the relgion everyone despises and hates.".

  is this not the relgion of jehovahs witnesses?..

  look in the bible itself it says in john 15:18-19. jesus says, "if the world hates you, you know it has hated me before it has hated you.
