Science makes sense to me.
All but the big bang....I understand the "evidence" of the big bang, but not how it could be possible. Not saying that the big bang isn't true, but there's just not enough evidence for me. That'll take more discoveries that hopefully I'll be alive to see.
Science can find truth. Religion helps you find what you can't see. Whether THAT is truth, is for you to decide.

Science and Truth
by LockedChaos into quote:.
people believe things which can be measured are true things,.
and things that cannot be measured are untrue things.. science is what people point to as a "truth", yet science itself .

Will the Organization fall apart?
by BonaFide inmajor changes in meetings, the weird drama this year, and just people reading on the internet, are causing a lot to leave the organization, or just fade.
is it possible that, just like a house of cards, the whole thing will fall apart soon?
i mean, this may be wishful thinking, but is it possible that people will start to dissassociate themselves in bigger numbers, then groups and families will do so, then bigger and bigger groups of friends will do it, and then people who hear about this will check on the internet and then do the same thing, then congregations have to be dissolved and merged, then the talks start getting meaner, and that makes even more people quit, then thousands start to leave.. possible?.

I don't think it will happen for a while.
An "experience" of mine out in service, a guy said he liked the "Rules" that his religion had for him. He didn't seem to be joking, either. There's always people who deep down want to be led. -

Another UN question!
by TweetieBird ini am pasting this from another thread but afraid it won't get seen so starting a new one.. the wts still associates with the un through offshoot programs ..(as recently as june 08) and had no problem participating in the un birthday back in 2005 i think.....the wts is also still affiliated with the para military organization known as the osce....which under it's previous name was spoken against....... can someone please direct me to where i can print out proof of this?.

Nobody knows.
The internet is the only way they could find out, and the Internet is NOT for researching JWs. -

What Draws Out The Lurker/Newbies
by Not Feeling It ini'm sure this has been discussed.
i was wondering what attracts a lurker/n00b to post for the first time.
i made my first post in someone else's thread eschewing the "hi, i'm new" thing.. for anyone, particularly the lurkers/noobies:.

I just find all the posts interesting I suppose....
Those little reasons that justify my choice. It helps when you're surrounded by it 24/7 . BTW, I'm NOT wrong :P . Being JW is no fun! -

Name Things That Are Uniquely "Special" To Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus injws have certain must haves.
for example a jw needs his or her own "bookbag".
an elder needs an "elder case", something very big, because after all, he's an elder!

Question on good and evil...
by digderidoo ingrowing up as a dub i always belived mankind was inheritantly good.
that because of adam and eve being perfect, they then ate the fruit and so that sinful side was passed on through the generations.. since leaving i have often wondered whether mankind is inheritantly good or evil.. when wicked acts occur, this makes me think that some have this evil deep down inside of them.
yet when someone helps others i then think that maybe some have good inside of them.. so is mankind inheritantly good or bad?

Compassion is good for Humans as a race. More compassion means more Humans survive. So it's a survival trait. Lack of compassion means more Humans die, so everyone else dislikes the evil person.
Selfishness is also a survival trait. The more you have, the better your chances.
So humans have both, but are directed by how well they listen to their parents, also a survival trait.
I think Nurture has more influence on how a person turns out, but it's not the whole picture. -

Guess what? I got INTERNET! Not only Internet, but HIGH SPEED internet!
They say money can't buy happiness, but I was pretty depressed with no internet or JWD :P . (but also cuz I was without my internet pen pals)
Every 6 months or so, I "return" then disappear because I lose internet again for some reason or another. Well hopefully I'll stick around (I'm buying the internet personally, and it's not going through mom).
Quick story re-cap, I'm 18, live at home, jobless, American, and think Australia is the coolest place ever. Born in, father died at age 4, and brought up by mom in the ways of the Dub. Told her I didn't want it when I was 15, suffered through hell for a year or so, and then she forgot (my mom has THE worst memory on the planet. I'm so lucky I get away with so much. And that cake was so good, too) .
Personally, I'm planning on going into the medical field (mom supports college, how strange) , have a fascination with computers, and love MSN. None of my friends live in my time zone, so I never find anyone on :P . I love video games, and....frogs. And a quirky sense of humor!
Nobody remembers me, even tho you say you will. I hope I'll have fun annoying you (I'm sure I will!) -

I just decided to pop in. I should hang around here more.
Anyways, I guess Im here cuz I feel like telling people junk and stuff :P .
So my brother decides to go back to meetings, but see, hes bipolar, and thinks he doesnt need his meds, so he keeps flip-flopping. He went on and on to mom about what she calls "apostate" stuff just days after telling her how proud of himself for going to meetings he is. Wierd.
In other news, people started liking me again (from another congregation, no shock seeing as how I never talk to anyone) , including a girl (shes from my congregation tho. Same bookstudy even. Deja vu). Now, I learned my mistake from the first girl (lol) , who is also a JW (and now hates me, despite all my charm :/ ) .
But the thing is, Im still lonely. 18 next month, and not even my first kiss (its a crime, i say!) . I also dont wanna hurt her feelings (shes hecka lot sweeter than the first girl) .
Mom and I had a talk about me "disrespecting" her. Being completely honest, I dont. Apparently saying "aww, do you have to come home?" jokingly is disrespect. Im always home on time, I dont yell at her, and there are no girls pregnant cuz of me (a shame....Im kidding, i swear :P ) . I dont really like her, as she gives every indication the only reason im here is to serve jah, and told me I have no right to choose otherwise. Even so, we cried and made up.
She told me about my dad (deceased) and how she doesnt want to explain to him how none of thier children made it to the new system. Although, surprisingly, she told me she noticed something "is missing" inside of me (shes generally oblivious) . She said "you can tell me, even if it makes me mad" .
I may be stupid, but i learned my lesson LAST time i told her :P . These lips are sealed. Even if I wanted to say "what am I missing? Oh, I dunno, Freedom of thought perhaps?"
Im 18 next month...and ill still have to go to meetings (it was nice to have a date to shoot for while it lasted :/ ) simply because we're poor. My inheritance (from dads passing) was drained by her. Even after I started working (odd jobs for a brother), she asked for more (which I did cuz....i need a place to live) . I got a check, and im worried if i let her put it in the bank (im too young for an account), ill never see it again.
Ok, I know what youll say first (if you read this far). YES, i KNOW its a bad idea to get involved with that girl :P . But sheesh give me some time to feel good about someone liking me, lol.
