  i realize that the book study news has been discussed ad nauseam, but i would like to join the fun.

  lots of potential reasons have been bandied about on the board.

  for example, legal liability for crimes/torts that take place at the bookstudy homes may make the society nervous.

  The GB said it was to save money for the R&F,high cost of gas.Why have big conventions,cost of traveling,hotel rooms, meals.Why have a special collection with a resolution for money to bring missionaries home for bigger international conventions.Book studings were located in areas where the R&F didn't have to travel far in fact a number walked.The GB said in their KM's home book studings was a protection when Satan attacks on J.W. at the end of this system.Help the R&F with costs I don't think so.Why,look at all the crap about working less more door-to door.Sell your house get an apartment go preaching Jehovah will provide if you put him first.Look at all the talk about materialism.If the J.W. are so well off that they have to constantly talk about materialism why worry about the cost of gas.

  Maybe it's about control.Maybe they will have quick build compounds /prisons for the R&F.Maybe they want the R&F to think the end is really close.Sorry R&F don't think for themselves.Dam they got me on this one.

  just got back from the assembly the bookstudy will be part of the ministry school service metting as of 2009. the cost of fuel is 1 reason.

  to many elders taking bookstudys time could be better spent on other things.

  family heads can now spend more time with there familys.

  in the paragragh ""as a class,these anointed ones make up the modern-day "generation" of comtemporaries that will not pass away "until all these things occur" "" see footnote.. my question...if the anointed.ie 144,000 make up a generation of comtemporaries.

  would they not be part of a generation say in the 1st century,the 5th century,10th century.15th century 18th century,19th century(1914) providing the proper food at the proper time.if that is so than how can the gb say this generation(anointed ones)will not pass away and that we are living "in the conclusion of the system of things"?

True they will say look at the signs in Matt.,Luke, world events etc since 1914.Explain,"This suggests that some who are Christ's anointed brothers will still be alive on earth when the foretold great tribulation begins." All over 100 years old,so they should be walking off the stage by now (gehenna).

  i think the loss of the book study will hit some like a death of a friend.

  it will mark the end of an era.

  it will forever change the religion of jehovah's witnesses and i believe the change is completely irreversible.. of course, most witnesses will be delighted by this.

  How the new "generation" study went down in the meeting today

  i made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.

  i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.

  well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.

  Slimboyfat,I enjoyed your comments.I felt the same.Extended period=short period of time.90 years=just around the corner=last hour.The kicker "the conclusion of the system of things and the end.Can be illustrated by a talk given at the Kingdom Hall.The talk is the last section which the speaker spends a little time.Q4 & 5 Talks about Jesus presence is an extended period of time.Just like their concluding prayers at the D.C. an extended period of time.

  In our Hall,When they got to part "The Generation Seeing the Sign" it was covered very fast with few comments because they made sure all the time was gone by para 10.

  Q10,11 Apostles,part of this gensration................ Apostles would no doubt have understood...........were to be part of 'GENERATION" that would not pass away.Then why did the Apostles ask Jesus all those questions if they understood?

  Q15 Without spiritual understanding=GB of WT.Look at all their wishy washy understanding of the generation.In todays study of the WT they refer to the 1995 WT,why not to all the WT'S and publications that said "This generation that saw 1914 will NOT pass away before the end comes".
