i guess i never did enough research on this subject b/c i remember having conversations about aborted babies being ressurrected, but it was field service conversations, not "personal study" with WBTS publications. but then....if unborn babies never took the breath of life...then are they teaching unborn babies are not a treasured life....a gift from God worthy of a ressurrection?...then why are they against abortion, why is abortion is considered bloodguilty....that seems to go in circles to me...i guess some teachings should not be compared side by side if you want to stay under their thought control.

Little children deserve to die at Armageddon
by jambon1 infor the life of me, i cannot work this one out.
it disturbed me when i was a jw and it now just makes me plain angry.. here are some comments from ministerial servants & elders on this subject, which i heard when i was in:.
"you know, a while ago, people used to object to the idea of children dying at armageddon but nowadays there is a spirit in kids (massive generalisation), which just seems to make them fit for destruction.

so, children will die if their parents are not baptized JW's in good standing, but aborted babies will be brought back to live on the earth in a paradise, and have a chance to "learn the truth", b/c Jehovah remembers "even the embryo"..(somewhere in psalms....proverbs???). So embryo's - INNOCENT. Infants, Toddlers, anyone under age 18 w/o believing parents - NOT FIT TO LIVE THROUGH ARMAGEDDON.
what about orphans? aren't we supposed to take care of them?
i started my own bible study when i was 10, and baptized at 14. i remember being told that it was a good thing I got baptized since my mom wasn't, so now I am eligable to live through armageddon. and i remember being so relieved!!!! but then sad b/c i realized that God was going to kill my parents.

Elders Closing In....an update
by diamondblue1974 inwell an elder finally rang, and sure enough it was one particular elder i was close to when i was a dub; i still do have a lot of time for him personally as he is genuine.
all the same however, hes a company man and i am a great believer that the person who is going to betray (if at all) will often will be the one you least expect it from.
i think it was him predominantly because he/they thought his call could be disarming.. well, i spoke to him very briefly, and in that time he tried to get my address off me on several occasions - he tried to ascertain when it would be most convenient to call (to which i was non committal) but careful not to do anything which could put my relationship with my mother at jeopardy.

sounds like you're a logical thinker, i appreciated the recap of your conversation. i hope your mother will take your words seriously. leaving a comfort zone, especially at an older age i imagine, would be difficult. it's not like she would have an easy time starting her life over. but it sounds like you were very gentle in dealing w/someone so psychologically damaged, as most of us are/were. i hope she thinks over what you said and admits some doubt that must be there. (how could it not?).

if you truly are a newly baptized 30 yr old college degree man, let me tell you what's going on with the selection of girls in the congregation (seeing as how i was one of those uneducated girls not too long ago):
most likely, with some exception however, they are going to look as cute as can be, go out in service as much as possible, highlight and underline their watchtower,be at every meeting and social event, and stare at you while you give talks on stage hoping they are making themselves spiritual enough to be your lawfully wedded wife. because you are the package deal - you can take them from pioneer mommy and elder daddy, and support her in HER pioneering while you put that college eduation to good use and bring home the bacon! eventually though you should probably work part time and join her in pioneering. maybe start a window washing business, she can clean houses part time. then, if youre lucky, if you have a degree that the WBTS needs at bethel (free labor), you may get invited to join that special aspect of priviledged service to jehovah. but don't cross your fingers on that one cuz i hear bethel is downsizing. :)

God and justice
by Aequitus inwhat is the justice in condemning humanity for the apparent sin of eve, transferring the crime of one to another, or the entirety?
where is the justice in exterminating unbelievers (most of whom may simply be unaware of 'the truth')?
people seem to value freedom as an implicit good--how is god's rule not authoritarian?

governments get into polictical conflicts.
soldiers are convinced they should be willing to be sent out to die, to protect the governments they represent.(i have nothing against patriotism, it is just a fact...)
the WBTS's theory is you are either a soldier for Jehovah's government, or for satan's government.
die for jehovah or die for satan.
the justice the WBTS claims jehovah set up, is entirely to sanctify jehovah's name, that was "called into question" in the garden of eden. we're asked to be soldiers of jah, to clear his name. isn't that what gangs do? round up their posse out of pride? We are taught to "turn the other cheek"..."walk away when provoked"....now, would this really be following jehovah's example??

Therapy or Counseling for ex-jws
by stillin4now ini am in the beginning process of trying to "fade" and have been dealing with depression and anxiety for a variety of reasons for a long time.
does anyone know of resources for finding counseling that is appropriate for someone like me?.
i have never been to a therapist and am afraid that they won't understand the unique issues of a person who is.

i don't have therapy suggestions that havn't already been mentioned, but i wanted to say good job in seeking professional help. i did online therapy w/a councelor half way across the world for a couple months, but she really didn't have the kind of specialization that i was looking for but it was a good experience to get my feelings out. i'm a new poster here, but this board is very theraputic ~ anyways, good job and good example making sure you come out of the WBTS mentally healthy! i'm a firm believer after we leave, it should have as little hold on our intellect as possible. of course, it will be a lifelong struggle, but strength makes struggles a little easier to muscle!!

it sounds like someone just needed a few more minutes of field service time to make their monthly goal! you were probably also counted as an RV. If it happens three times in a row, you are a bible study. :)

Shunned by an old friend
by fullofdoubtnow inin all the years i was a jw, although i had many acquaintances, i only had 3 really close friends.
two of them are no longer jws.
one is trev, who is obviously a lot more than a friend to me now, and my friend marion left the wts a few months ago, with a lot of encouragement from me.. my other friend is still very much a jw, and when i was announced as no longer a jw last year, she phoned me to tell me how very upset and disappointed she was.

What an awful experience, but I agree with Xnived Shadow ~ you set a great example for others who will/already have faced that same situation. I'm working up the courage to DA myself before it's done for me, and I've already been told by a couple that has helped raise me since i was 10, "be sure to stop by and tell us how you're doing, we love you as a person, not just a servant of Jehovah. So be sure to come by and see us...unless you're disfellowshipped of course!" So...all in one scentence they totally contradicted themselves, and it gave me a taste of what i had to look forward to from friends supposidly closer than family...
You are great encouragement to me, thanks for sharing your hurtful experience, as painful as it was. all the best to you and Trev!!
