i hope it's alright that i post a question, even though i've never had any affiliation with jw organization.
i have a friend who has been trying to convince me for years to study with jw.
i've been doing alot of research on jw and was just wondering if people here would be kind enough to tell me why they have decided to quit their affiliation with jw organization.

I was a young girl when I was kicked out. Barely 16. I bet you, I couldn't of told you anything other than what pertained to my imediate life. Yet, as young and nieve as I was when I went to a party, got drunk, and then date raped did the org help, No. They told me it was all of my fault. I am over the tragedy, but really think long and hard before you tiptoe through the "bible" with JW's
occasionally we get accused of being too harsh and venomous with the jws and the wts that directs them in all things.
so to give a measure of how justified we feel in criticising them we could ask the question: .
what things do the dubs have to stop doing or believing for you to stop criticising them?

interesting question when we were taught never to have our own thoughts. It was never a question for me. I was born and raised JW. I have a hugh family, all JW. I knew there was something "on the fence" and on the other side, but that was, unobtainable.If I went to the other side I would "die" I lived my whole life in constant fear. I am now in my thritys and have lived the past 15 years trying to sift though the shell of my psych. Untill recently, I never questioned the JW. I tried not to think about it at all, denial. I have my life and my family, to my dismay, has missed out on knowing a really cool person, It has taken me years to say that.........
ok, i'm writing this thru tears as i just found out in the last 5 minutes.
my dad died in august, and they had been together just 1 or 2 weeks over 70 years married!
i didn't expect her to last without him, and visa versa.. i just tried to call my sister, and no answer there.

so very sorry to hear of you loss, having just lost my own father I can relate to the devastion this has on you. Everyone hear has been so nice to me and I hope you will find some comfort here as well

this may have been discussed before but did any of you have crazy strict parents...i mean did they have even more strict ideas than what the religion already had put restrictions on?.
my stepfather had been a crazy drug/alcohol addict before dragging my family into the "truth"...then it seemed he became obsessed with the religion.

Since I did not like the girls in the kingdom hall I went without friends. I did manage to sneak a few in in highschool, It took me years to be socially acceptable...lol
