  isn't life crazy?

  i just spent 30 days selling christmas trees.

  i set there in the rain and cold playing christmas music helping people buy their tree...blessing each and every person who did.... i looked up into the sky and wondered where i will be 10 years from now.

  2007 WTS Statistics - Massive memorial partakers increase this year.

  this year, according to the 2008 year book, there were 9,105 partakers.. i guess now that they have permission to be annointed from the wts they decided to jump on board.. .

  And now, such a long time since I last read a magazine, I can't believe I ever believed it! Not just doctrine, but the way they are reasoning. It makes no sense to me now.

  I experience the same. We use to receive the magazines from my parents. Reading trough some of it, often make me laugh. The reasoning is so naive! And even in a simple non-religious article about hummingbirds or something, there's always the "moral" (Jehovah, creator, paradise, blah, blah) in the last paragraph.
  
  The Batten article was really powerful, thanks WAC. But unfortunately it will only make sense to those who already have seen, or beginning to see, the "truth about the Tooth"...
  Those still under hypnosis will only bring up the red thought-stopping flag and cry "persecution!"

  Baptised, disfellowshipped all before reaching 18

  how many times does this happen?

  this question just popped in my head while reading the thread about being disfellowshipped.. disfellowshipping is harsh, but to do this to a kid??

  Kids make mistakes, it's a part of growing up.

  Amen. To bad, then, that this mistake turns into a life sentence.
  To sentence a child to life for a bad choice they did when they were 8 years old, only happens in countries/societies we don't like to be compared with.

  In the congs around where I grew up, it was really strange if a JW child would wait to get baptised till after 18. But I later came to admire them. Even if they later choose to baptise, they resisted the huge pressure I myself could not resist (of course growing up under mind control they eventually surrendered, but even so). Hey, my mother was really worried when I was not a publisher yet at the age of 12!
  
  13-15 was a very common age. 8 also occurred, and a 12-year-old girl baptised on the same day as me (15), but I don't know what happened to her later.
  But I know a lot of young people around me faded or DF'd (even more than one time) when they were still in their teens.
  
  Now I find it crazy. 8, and even 15, years is much too young! There's no chance that you understand the consequences of what will happen if you later should choose to believe in something else (of course at that time you say that this will never happen, so it's irrelevant).

  does anyone know how the baptismal vows are worded in norwegian?

  i think they can be found in wt june 1, 1985. but i don't have wts that old.

  i also need the page number in the norwegian edition of the 1985 wt.

  On a different forum where I also posted the vows in Norwegian question, I was asked about the "three sets of baptismal vows in English", if the same applied to Norwegian.

  i'm half-tempted to order it.

  the author claims to be a presiding overseer, and claims to have lost his son to suicide after the son was df'd.

  I'm looking at the cover illustration of this book.
