If you had a Time Machine would you stop yourself being a Witness???
by Witness 007 inwhat if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!
what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.

Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

The end is soooo close, and Jehovah is gathering his people. That's why there's a Watchtower exclusively for JWs.

Is it "Healthy" for every JW to think alike like they do....
by JH ini like variety and different opinions and i don't see that in the jw's...... what can this lead to?.

Where everyone thinks exactly alike, no one thinks very much.

Couldn't have said it better ... very, very true.

Apart from "My Book Of Bible Stories" and the "Paradise" book?
by Crumpet incall it my anal retentious streak, but i've rated every book i've ever read since i was 7. i had phases of favourite writers.. i was an enid blyton fan - the faraway tree, famous five, secret seven, mallory towers series.
then i got hooked on franklin w dixon's hardy boys and judy blume's eye opening, straight talking stories about growing up which really taught me everything i knew about what life was like for a normal girl not growing up in the jw world.
i started reading agatha christie when i was 9 and remember taking the maximum number of books i could from the mobile library van that came to our village and being as impatient for its fortnightly return as i was for the afternoon icecream van.

I loved Greek fables! I would read them over and over ....
Used to read the Mr. Meddles stories too ... loved them as well.

Nope, I don't think it's healthy ... not even enjoyable.
It may create just a front of "unity", but if God himself created diversity in everything why would he then have "his Organization" create clones for members? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would he also create humans with powers of reasoning, then forbid his followers from using it?
Remember the real Borg... the one on Star Trek? Sure they had the reputation of being invincible, but their diversity allowed growth. Instead of forcing new members to completely conform to a pre-determined, stagnant mold, they took on the knowledge of their new
assimilationsrecruits. So as new members came on board, the strengths of the entire community continued to evolve.Maybe the other Borg needs to take a page out of their book....

Things You HATED About Being a JW
by minimus inthere were a few things that i hated about being a witness.. i love music and live concerts.
quite often i'd have to play my music privately or hide an album cover for fear it might "stumble" someone.
i hated worrying whether someone was going to somehow get "stumbled.. regarding going to concerts, it seemed that certain artists only came to town on a meeting night and i'd miss the shows.. what did you hate about being a jehovah's witness?.

I also hated having to give up stuff because it fell on "meeting nights" .... seemed like every enjoyable event did.
I hated the hypocrisy, the judging and categorizing of everybody. I hated having to take a "quota" of magazines at the literature counter. Hated those dumb "special magazine days", and those special talks that ended up being not so special.
And oh how I hated those false-sounding "greetings" we used to get from other congregations ...

We say this in you name and your only begotten son Jesus Christ....Amen
LOL!!! Reading that brought back memories of .....
"we pray this prayer in no other name but that of your son Jesus Christ ... Amen!"
I had heard that line sooooo many times as a small child that I thought they were really saying ... "we pray this prayer in the northern name of your son." LOL!!!
