Nope!! In comparison to my crazy parents I am a great parent. I remember confusion, fighting, cursing, yelling and hitting. I am proud to say my children will never experience those things. The JW really breeds craziness. I think my mom was so conflicted with what she thinks is right and what she really wanted to do that she was making all of us miserable and my dad, well, my dad is just miserable. He is not a JW. I love but my parents still even in spite of the unhapiness her religion caused me... sitting in the hall almost every holiday at school.. being the outcast almost everywhere and her making damn sure everyone knew why! I wish things were different. I just feel like crying.

Thank you all so much for the great advice. I wish I was a better writer and could make a more vivid picture of my family llife. My mom is such a sad sack when anything like this comes up she always acts like " well I guess that's it. You are not going to live in the new system with grampa and you will never meet my mother. You won't see Aunt so and so again" and the list just grows.
I love her like I said but this has been just paralyzing to me and I know the best advice would be to get a backbone but as I am sure all of you know all that would do is push her away and my kids are really close to her (she does have normal days!) My husband thinks JW's are absolutely bananas and thee is no talking to him about it. He is very kind to my mother and loves her but he doesn't listen to her nonsense and she must somehow sense this b/c she never witnesses to him. b/t/w are all witnesses extremely paranoid as in everyone hates them b/c they are JW? My mom is becoming increasingly paranoid like this.

She lives only a couple miles from us and sees my girls everyday and I know she will confuse the crap out of them if I do let her go. She always makes little comments and then my daughter will be like what in the world is she talking about!?!? I know everytime I write on here it is always something about my mom driving me nuts with this but I love her very much but I want a nice and gentle way to say let me live my life and you can have your crazy religion and I won't bother you about it. But if I said that she would be crushed and probably ice me out for months! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!

I hate Walmart!
by Elsewhere ini rarely ever set foot in the place and will go out of my way to avoid shopping there.
tonight i made the mistake of giving walmart the benefit of the doubt and walked in the door.. they didn't have the main item i was looking for, but they did have one other small item.
i headed to the front to check out only to find they had only a few check-outs open and all of the lines were far too long.

I never, ever shop at Wal Mart for the same reason!! They are destroying middle class America. We don't have a chance against them alone but if people would band together and boycott them together, things would change for the better!!!!

What were your childhood summers like as a JW?
by reneeisorym ini always had to pioneer and it sucked... in mississippi it was 100 degrees and very very humid.
it was like a greenhouse.
we would get all dressed up and just pour sweat.

That is such a funny subject!!! I wasn't even a JW and my mom really wasn't a practicing one but even so we never got to do sh*! We couldn't play sports, spend the night with friends, go to camp etc. etc. etc.!!!! The bad part is she never even did anything with the crazy religion but we had to follow all of the ridiculously stringent rules that THEY live by

This is wxtremely difficult for me b/c first of all some of these people are close to meand expect me to know what the hell she is talking about! I have no clue. And when you try to explain all this to the normal average person, they think you are nuts. I would like to respectfully ask her not to do this but she will go off telling me how sorry I will be and how I should be forming a bond with Jehovah for my own sake and for my children. I have even considered studying with her to get her off my back. But I do realize that will only make my problem multiply! thanks in advance for any advice

Ever since I can remember I have attended the memorial only for my mothers sake though. I am not a JW nor do I have any desire to ever become one but I know it means alot to my mom. Although now I have been enlightened on many things about her religion that I do not want any part of and I DO NOT want to go. If I were to tell her these things I have learned she would stop speaking to me and I don't want to risk that. She is so entrenched in this religion that I have no hope of ever getting her out. But she is my mother and I love her. I guess what I am asking is how do I tell her I don't want to go this year when I have been going all along for several years? B/T/W She is not the kind of person who will accept " I just don't want to go." SHe will push and push and push until she feels she has been given a decent and acceptable answer. My sister keeps telling me "You'll go, you'll go." and I keep telling her I won't she is not a JW either and she will cave into my mom and go. Help me give her a short and nice (no attacking her, I love her very much, she can't help that she is in a crazy religion!) answer!!!! Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks for all the great advice! I have one more quick question. Why is it that whenever you speak to a JW about another religion they look as though they are going to throw up on you? My mom will either snicker like THEY are all crazy or tell me a big long reason of why this religion or that religion is bad.

She always says that people do not care for one another anymore and tells me that is how the end has been described as b eing. It is driveing me crazy!! She is constantly telling me I need to teach my children before it is too late. I love my mom but I feel like she gets loopier everyday. It kinda makes me nervous. I never know what I can say without getting a 20 minute sermon on what I need to do and how much she loves me and my kids then I spend the rest of the day feeling like crap!
Her and my father spend winters in south florida imagine the stories she tells me everyday that she watches on the news!!!!! I always tell her that we just have better media coverage now and that there have always been good and bad people. "NOOOOOOOOO MA'AM that is simply not true!" she always says. Sometimes I feel like if it's coming then I wish it would just come on dammit because she is driving me mad.
