it just hit me 144,000 are married to the jesus christ yet it is made of men and women all kings.

so then why are the witnesses for not for gay marriage?.

And I respond to you that NO, I wouldn't be here making fun of Allah either. I have learned to respect other people's religious symbols even if I don't see them as divine or gods. That is what being on the outside has taught me. Would I be offended? You are right, probably not, because I don't see Allah as MY God. But out of respect to the Muslims I wouldn't make fun of him just as I don't like them hating Christians because they don't believe the same way they do.

I do have good sense of humor, but I certainly do not make fun of God and never will. I don't care about your personal lives, I certainly am not a saint & have my own preferences when it comes to intimacy, and what anybody does in their bedrooms is none of my business and don't judge them for it either, but like I said, just as nobody likes to be made fun of, whether it be because of their religion, their lifestyle, their race, etc., I felt it was disrespectful to make fun of God and Jesus, even if you don't believe they exist.

I really don't want to turn this into a cyber fight, because in general I do agree and respect the reasons why so many of us are either angry and upset about their experiences as JW, I have my own monsters, but I felt I had to say something. Let's just bury the hatchet and go on.

It doesn't matter how we feel about the WTBS I feel that this thread is very insulting and disrespectful. There is no need for this. I've never posted against anything it's been said here that I don't agree on, but I had to do it on this one. Not even drunk will I dare to insult God or Jesus in this way.

What Things Would You Not Have Done As A JW That You Would Do Now?

as witnesses, we were very concerned that we might offend somebody's conscience and our actions reflected that.

if someone might've been "stumbled" by our actions or speech, we would make sure we would do everything possible to not upset another fellow brother or sister.. i would not have gone to an "r" rated movie.

now, i go to any rated or unrated movie because i don't give a sh*t what smeone might feel over my choice.. what things are you free to do without worrying that someone might be disturbed over it?

Wear what I want.

Think what I want.

Tell my kids they can be anything and encourage them to get an education.

Want a tattoo and a bellybutton piercing. (Scared to do them both)

Shame on me, but I smoke.

Watch any kind of movie I want. (Don't like the ones with unnecesary violence)

Also say bless you when someone sneezes.

I went to a New Years Eve celebration at Universal Studios in Florida. (David Lee Roth was performing, couldn't miss that one.)

Don't celebrate Christmas but went to a dinner my boss made reservations for the company's Christmas party.

And some of the other stuff some of you have mentioned. (The unmentionables too, so what)

Reading " Crisis of Consience", What did you Learn, How did it affect you?

thought this would be good to discuss for the newbies and others just getting out of the witnesses, so they can have their thinking and appetites whetted of things they never knew coming out from under the witness organizations spell.

i know for myself, after reading this book, it totally clarified what the reasons were for all the control in the organization.

and i was informed of things i never had a clue that were going on behind the bethel scenes.

I read it, I'll have to read it again. There is a lot of "political" jargon and some parts were difficult for me to understand. In general it is very interesting. Did it affect me? It made me realize that I wasn't alone. Lots of things he mentioned, the service report, the decisions on your personal and intimate life and else were right on the money. I felt uneasy about those things before, I just did what I was suppose to do without questioning anything.

Beliefs, Honesty

not too long ago, i heard a district overseer say, at a circuit assembly, something astonishing; that he would continue to be a jehovahs witness even if it was proven to him that god does not exist.

his point was the organization and its moral standards protect people from a lot of trouble and that this by itself is very positive aspect.

i could not forget such a statement and, just as an exercise, started to pose the following scenario to some of my friends, including several ministerial servants an one elder: if you some how determine that this is not the truth, would you continue to be a witness?

Hence, my question to you: Don’t you think that there may be a large number of witnesses who do not really believe in the WT teachings and remain there only because of the repressive methods of the organization?

Although I am not active, because of my own experience and talks with some friends, a large number of JW's stay or will stay, because even with all the contradicitions and misuse of power, some (including me) think that it is the religion closer to the truth of the Bible. The only thing better to it is to become an independent Bible student and not joining another religion. But if it is to leave and look for another religion to go to, then they are right, there is nothing better out there.

although i still have doubts there is life after death, i believe i would be hanging on to every last vestige of my son that i could and that means talking to him.

talking into the air and crying.

realizing this is his final resting place.

I definitely would. Wheather we believe that there's life after death or not, I would still visit their grave, talk to them.

I heard a story in the Kingdom Hall that goes like this.

Long ago, far far away, a man shot some sales guy that knocked on his door. When the cops arrested this maniac, they asked why the JW that knocked on his door moments before did not get shot. He stated that he decided to kill the next person who comes to his door, but could not because they JW had two huge dudes standing behind her.

Even back then I speculated that this was an exageration. Surely this story just goes around and around and around ad nauseum. It all horse sh... oops almost said something nasty..

I am from the other side of the world from where you come from... according to the flag that shows on your avatar... I come from Puerto Rico and I also heard that story. I didn't know it was that famous. I live in the states now and in the beggining of last year a "sister" and her two sons ( or one) got murdered by this "mentally ill" man, son of another sister. They were helping this man to get back on track, he was friend with her son. But he decided to kill them that day, for reasons I don't remember now. This sister was in very good standing in the congregation, in fact a book study was being conducted in her house. They were found by the Book study conductor. I ask myself then, where were the angels that day? Doesn't seem fair, doesn't it?

Going to college or not may be a reflexion of your faith, or lack of your faith

YOU UNFAITHFUL SINNER.

What will you do? What decisions will you make? Will you refuse or not? Will you get a university education or not? You will be accountable to Jehovah for this.

MENTAL MANIPULATION.

We would like to praise those in the audience who dropped out of college when they accepted the Truth, as we praise all those who after listening to this talk, will make the same decision. Maybe you still want to advocate the possibility of going to college.

We are not able to or willing to telly you what you should do. Your parent and you should make a decision. We are not the masters over your faith.

DON'T WANT TO BE LIABLE FOR YOUR DEATH AT ARMAGGEDON.

I would love to see more of these talks on youtube. I'd like to see how other assemblies have given this same talk and compare. Probably the same bullsh%$. But it'll make me more sure i made the right decision.

Did Jesus really die on a cross?

believe it or not this was the very very begining of my demise as a dub.. i picked the simplest thing that dubs disagree with christians on and i thought surely i could come to a conclusion as to wether dubs were right or christendom was right.i wanted to start building my foundation of faith in them.. i can't believe they are still using this stupid illustration of the loved one murdered by the weapon illustration!.

idiots, jesus wasn't murdered he gave his life ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I really don't see the point on debating whether or not he died on a cross or stake. The cross was used to kill criminals and that is very well known in history. We can't be certain. But the point is no matter what was used the problem lies on venerating the "weapon" used to kill Jesus.

According to the Society he died on a stake. His hands were crossed one on top of the other and nailed together with a single nail, right? Then why is it that the New World Translation says: John 20:25 25 Consequently the other disciples would say to him: “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them: “Unless I see in his hands the print of the NAILSand stick my finger into the print of the NAILS and stick my hand into his side, I will certainly not believe.”

Makes you wonder.
