Do You Have The Desire To Move On From Your JW Past?
by minimus insometimes i wonder if some might actually enjoy staying in a rut.
do we forsee ourselves being totally liberated from our former religious past??
personally, i have no issues feeling bad, angry or hostile toward where i am now.

Like some of you here, if I didn't have my mom (very active, and quite a believer) in the Org., I probably would. I would check what's the latest, but that's about it.

feel that this may change though as her conscience continues to get pricked by what she reads and hears from the platform as they get more strict about inactive ones.
Middlechild:
What are they saying about inactive ones? What are they telling the congregation to do about us?
you won't be giving jw's a bad name by not following all their practices and just being inactive. you just let people know in your life that it's applicable to that you're no longer associated with them. you don't have to take official action for it to be understood by the "world".
I guess you are right about this. I really don't wish to take this step any time soon. I am not out to talk bad about them and the Org. I just want to feel comfortable with what I believe in, and certainly I won't find that comfort there. DON'T DO THIS, REACH FOR MORE, THAT IS INAPROPRIATE (when they don't want to directly tell you is wrong), BE CAREFUL WITH, ETC., is all you hear.
Thanks everyone for your input. Keep them coming though. I would like to know if someone is actually feeling the same way I do.

Imagine a sister/brother is preaching. The household is a family of "baptists" to give an example. They start giving the message and one of the members of the family likes what he/she hears. Decides to study the Bible. Before becoming a Witness he hears that JW's shun those who decide to DA. He asks: Is it Ok, for my family to stop talking to me, because I will no longer be a Baptist but a JW's? What would the brother/sister say? "It wouldn't be right", I bet the answer will be. This person then becomes a Witness, his family, even though they are not happy, would continue talking to him/her.
My point is: I don't want to be recognized as a witness anymore. My reason is the same as many of you. Don't agree with many policies and procedures within the Org. I don't intend to join any other religion, but I don't see the point on continuing in this limbo, because I am not active, don't feel comfortable at meetings anymore, and would rather be known as one not having a particular denomination than being recognized as a Witness but not practicing. There is no use. I don't want to hurt the name Jehovah's Witness by not being fully faithful to the Organization. JW's are known by how "sincere" and strict they are about their beliefs. What is holding me back is my mom. I will hurt her deeply if I ever decide to DA. She's been thru a lot, since as recent as December 06 we lost my sister. And if we will see wrong for a family to shun someone that has decided to leave their religion and become a witness, then why should we do that? Because of this non-sense belief that someone who DA from the Org. should be considered as an outcast, ostracized, shunned, and not worthy of "paradise", my mom will just drop dead.
Any of you have gone thru the same experience?

Recurrent nightmare, what does it mean?

Is your rewind button stuck? Seriously, I have had recurring dreams that I am being chased by people who want to harm me. I once thrashed myself out of bed during one of my nightmares. These went on for many years, until they just stopped a few years ago. My wife is glad I don't kick her in my sleep any longer. I wish I knew what is was all about, too.
"I'm Being Chased"
Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. You are running away, hiding, or trying to outwit your pursuer. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it.?Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure.
The pursuer or attacker who is chasing you in your dream may also represent a part of yourself. Your own feelings of anger, jealousy, fear, and possibly love, can assume the appearance of threatening figure. You may be projecting these feelings onto the unknown chaser. Next time you have a chase dream, turn around and confront your pursuer. Ask them why they are chasing you.?
One may be consumed by their own anger, jealousy, love, or self-destructive behavior. For example, you may be drinking too much or exhibiting open hostility toward others around you. You may subconsciously be threatened by these actions which have been jeopardizing your relationships and/or career. Your dreams are a way of calling attention to these self-destructive actions.
A more direct analysis of chase dreams is the fear of being attacked. Such dreams are more common among women than men, who may feel physically vulnerable in the urban environment. These dreams are inspired by fears of violence and sexual assault in which we are so over-exposed from the media. The violence that the media portrays magnifies our fears and how at risk we all are.?Taken from dreammoods.com

I am having a recurrent and very upsetting nightmare that my husband is murdered. In one dream, I call the police and am arrested immediately myself. In another dream, there is blood everywhere. In all dreams, an intruder attacks and kills my husband. I wake up so upset I can not get back to sleep for a couple of hours.
Recurring dreams are quite common and are often triggered by a certain life situation or a problem that keeps coming back again and again. These dreams may recur daily, once a week, or once a month, but whatever the frequency, there is little variation in the dream content itself. It usually points to a personal weakness, fear, or your inability to cope with something in your life - past or present.
The repetitive patterns in your dream can reveal some of the most valuable information on yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled. Or some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.
Blood
To see blood in your dream, represents life, love, and passion as well as disappointments. If you see the word "blood" written in your dream, then it may refer to some situation in your life that is permanent and cannot be changed.
Murder
To dream that you witness a murder, indicates deep-seated anger towards somebody. Consider how the victim represents aspects of yourself that you want to destroy or eliminate.
This info was taken from dreammoods.com. I like it because it comes very close to what my dreams might mean to me. About 3 months ago I had a dream I thought didn't make any sense, but I looked it over and it was very accurate, in fact, it prevented me from making a decision that could've started a lot of problems. I don't look over every single dream I have, but that one called my attention. Since yours is a recurring one, I hope this information can help you. Let us know.

Rather old documentary. Some parts where hard to see. Especially those where former JW's spoke about being shunned, the case of that young man that thought about commiting suicide after an affair with a married JW sister. He ended up killing himself, because the elders told him they will deal with him in the JC. They should have at least waited until he felt that suicide was not the solution and show him some sympathy.

Very interesting, though I don't quite get how the religious part fits? Seems a bit out of place in the over all scheme of things! If you watched the entire documentary you'll notice that what they tried to do is to compare both religion and government like entities that, by fear, try to control everyones lives. In the case of religion, they are trying to say that christianity is nothing out of the ordinary, that it is just an extension of paganism, but tries to use their fear of hell, punishment to control the masses. The same with government. The comparisons between Jesus and other gods was meant to say that religion uses the figure of Jesus Christ the son of God as something divine, when in actuality, was another myth, a figment of humans imagination and that he probably didn't even exist. And also wanted to point out that religion uses the image a God that is there watching every move we make and that will strike us dead if we do not do what is told to us by the Commandments or Bible rules. Governments, as portrait in the documentary use the same method, by wanting to put chips in each of us to provide us with security when, in reality, is to be able to control every move we make.
By this I do not say I agree with everything that was shown, but just telling you why they spoke about religion and then government. They are just saying they are the same.
I wrote two things they said about government that could also be used against religion.
They said terror or terrorism is "FEAR USED TO KEEP SOCIETY TOGETHER". Does that sound similar to what religion does? They also said that governments "DO NOT WANT YOU TO THINK TO MUCH. THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO BE EDUCATED" Another familiar situation, isn't it?
