  i had gone back and forth as to whether i used to belong to a cult.

  the gb continues to isolate in their own unique way all of their flock.

  I really feel the JW only WT is just a cost cutting procedure and nothing more.

  I more or less agree with this Oompa. However, it does make the insertion of more cultish ideas and activities easier and less available to the public....

  When I first heard about the change to a members only WT, I was beyond furious. I had gone back and forth as to whether I used to belong to a cult. Now I know. The GB continues to isolate in their own unique way all of their flock. I am not suggesting that they are going to do Jamestown. The fact is that most cults don't do mass suicides. But that doesn't make cults any less dangerous...

  I read the first "Study Edition" WT and found it very benign. Then it occurred to me; The GB usually is very adept at PR. They play their cards well, and they aren't showing them all right now.

  Surely they would know that the first few members only WT's would be under great scrutiny. Thus, I have concluded that it is highly unlikely that anything very controversial will be printed for the next several months, maybe past a year or more. The idea is to slowly condition everyone to it, and introduce more controversial items, articles and teachings as time goes on.

  That isn't to say that new light won't come up. JWD has had all kinds of rumors coming out about a proposed new light teaching on "the generation". I am sure it will be in the new WT. Or maybe a statement now, a talk at the next series of DC's this year, and a whole big blow up on the subject next year, well after the "excitement and controversy" of the new format for the WT has died down....

  What do you think about this scenario? This is just me opining, but it seems to make some sense.....

  the governing body should be hanging their heads in shame watching how the events unfolded in south africa at oprah winfrey's school.

  her fearless way in meeting the problems head on, not covering up, calling in expert help, investigating, apologizing, getting all adults away from the campass so the girls could talk openly about what happened.

  those girls came first.

  My heart bleeds for those girls and all victims of disgusting pedophiles. Oprah's example is great. For one thing, Oprah realized that even though she does bear accountability because she does own the school, no one in their right mind would say or think that this is what she wanted. Who does? I don't believe that the GB of JW's or any religious entity endorses pedophilia.

  What makes this different is that Oprah cleaned house at the first sign of it. The children got help from people with resources, deep pockets. (think the GB can afford some therapy as opposed to settlement money?) The example is set. I guarantee that no one will try that at one of Oprah's schools ever.

  Oprah isn't culpable for this because she met it head on. The minute JW's and other religions bobbed, weaved, hid, denied, and then as a final insult try to legalize their way out of responsibility, they became accomplises. They did nothing to seperate themselves from the criminal pedophiles. No, I am sure the GB find the practice by itself disgusting personally. (They also think most sexual activity is disgusting...) For some reason, they have chosen to envelop themselves in a cloak of secrecy for one reason: $MONEY$

  Oprah would give her entire fortune to right this wrong. That is a big difference. Her actions give me hope.

  Thanks! I appreciate the scan and the commentary. This has jogged a memory. I DO remember seeing this as a teen, and a couple of the friends just wrote it off as "volunteer" art.

  I still have my own opinions about subliminal art in the WT. I will try to be as open minded as I can about it, but if I might add a comment, this doesn't seem subliminal, this seems obvious. Whether it was an example of bad art, or a disgruntled artist with an attitude, it seems a little to obvious.

  I guess to me, subliminal art has as its goal mind manipulation and control. I will do my best to reconsider my current stance, but my opinion still is that subliminal art is not a device that the GB uses.

  so is this image actually showing what appears to be a demon hand thingy?.

  just wondering...i showed mum and she was pretty freaked by it but then said 'its down to the mist, it makes it look like that' lol, i love dubs .

  Edited to add: KW 13 is obviously legit. I meant anyone with a Rev book here on JWD, as opposed to findng this on the internet. Peace!

  What a ridiculous, self serving metaphor "food" has turned into. Whatever!

  Before I left, the CO told me that it takes so much reading of the publications to stay healthy in the faith these days. I said to myself "I wonder if he knows what he just said. In order to keep your faith strong, you must read propaganda exclusively all the time at the exclusion of all else. If you were to read anything else, it would endanger your faith."

  Such a shallow faith, such a weak faith, if it depends so much on getting brainwashed....

  LOL! Ok, this isn't subliminal. It is a hand in the shadow of "Jebus". This is a great example of the problems in the art dept at Patterson. They are mediocre, volunteer painters and artists. They are asked to do hundreds of drawings each month. They are cataloged, and the Writing Dept gives final approval after looking at several pics and drawings for the publications, whether its the magazines or new books......

  I have been outspoken that subliminal art does not exist in the WT because among other things, they aren't that good at it! They are just like any other bethelite, they get to go home at 4:45 and rest or go to meetings. They are treated like cattle, often times their work isn't respected. The people who make the final approvals aren't artists at all. The GB pick the pics with the greatest emotional impact. That isn't a secret at all.

  This example is just a bad drawing of a fictional charecter.

  Car Talk

  over the past weekend i replaced the rear brake pads on my 03 mini cooper, changed out the cabin air filter, and steam cleaned the engine.

  my friend came over with his 04 ford tarus he wanted me to look at some brake noise in the rear passenger side, turns out it only needed to be cleaned and adjusted.

  i also fixed a dash light that was out on my 03 focus, then i noticed that my electric trunk latch is going out, guess i'm off to pick a part this weekend!

  I am not as opinionated face to face. Here, I see no faces, I only respond to words and opinions with words and opinions of my own. I try my best to be sensitive to people I know and meet in person. I am sure it would make a big difference how and what I say if I have could have a couple of hours with each of you. (not going to happen I know) but perhaps you can catch my drift...

  So the answer is my personality is different, although my thoughts and opinions aren't. They would just be expressed more discriminately.
