  I have experienced this in my own family with my brother and several friends, as well as having to deal with the ass headed way the WTBTS tries to cover things up.

  It is a sensitive subject. If I had known why you brought this up, I wouldn't have responded as I did, and I apologize if my words hurt.

  I do think the legal punishments for pedophiles are best discussed abstractly for a variety of reasons. But beyond that, what I wish for you and your family most of all is some healing for your wounds.

  Leprechaun, I just want to say that I feel for you and your daughter. I don't disagree with you that the justice system at times fails the victims.

  I understand the emotions behind what you say a little better.

  As this is personal for you, as opposed to an abstract discussion, I will excuse myself, because I don't want to cause you any more pain by taking an issue that to me is personal for different reasons, and discuss them with you.

  Suffice to say, there is no punishment that can ever really make a parent or a child whole in such cases.

  notknowing inspired me on having a new thread for my idea.. except for this explanatory paragraph, i will refrain from using the letter "t" in this thread.

  i insist that you all do the same.. i mean, there's already a "t" in my name so that cannot be helped, but many insist that the cross was a pagan symbol.

  heck, the "t" is just a simple letter, can the romans really help that someone decided to use the "t" in their pagan worship?

  As I said, I have been having break-through's, or flashbacks if you will. Today, I remembered various (notice the plural) talks given by elders in relation to cults. What surprised me though, was that I remembered that when the elder mentioned the word "cult", he also mentioned the word "occult" within the same sentence or paragraph.

  Why do this? Both words may sound alike, but sounding and being are two very distinct things. As I have detailed above, "cult" & "occult" share two very seperate labels.

  I haven't done any research into this coincidence. Maybe it's just that, a coincidence. I do find it strange though, that even though I hated the WBTS, I still got angry at the fact that it was being called a cult, for (and here's the crux of this thread) "the Jehovah's Witnesses weren't demon possessed".

  Ah, there you have it. By mentioning these two words; words that sound alike, our mind, understood the two to be inseparable.

  I have to agree with the quote from inkling on this one:

  "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."

  The GB of Jehovah's Witnesses are exceedingly stupid. Their malice comes from worshiping YHWH with CYA in mind (cover your ass).

  As far as these two terms, I asked my mom this when I was 5 or 6 or something like that. She said that the two words were different and that the (stupid, not malicious) elder simply got the two words mixed up in his head.

  I have heard this mistake several times. As an adult, I would bring it up whenever it was done, and point out that difference.

  The fact is, its most frequently understood from definition #1...

  1.	of or pertaining to magic, astrology, or any system claiming use or knowledge of secret or supernatural powers or agencies.

  2.	beyond the range of ordinary knowledge or understanding; mysterious.

  3.	secret; disclosed or communicated only to the initiated.

  JW's are not of the occult. They are A cult. (not THE cult... sorry, small John 1:1 joke there) Any elder who gets that wrong is just showing off the excellent quality of leaders JW's are attracting these days.

  Credible witnesses + confession + lie detector test + DNA + fair trial = Chemical castration.

  In some cases, I wouldn't object to this. At this point, I think that Chemical castration is at best an option for certain cases. (esp repeat offenders or those who made a practice of it for several years, hiding their tracks...) It still feels like cruel and unusual to me at the moment though...

  what i found was more of the same.

  religion acting like a 'prophet'.

  GATHER YOURSELVES TOGETHER...How can I argue that? anyone? I can not find a group to gather to.

  Ri, re-read that scripture and ask yourself, who is it that Paul (allegedly attributed as the writer of Hebrews) is talking too?

  Is it that Governing Body of JW's? Why write one congregation to setup their own meetings? Doesn't that at least suggest that individual congregations, if not individuals period, have the autonomy to prepare and schedule their own meetings?

  The GB has stolen Hebrews 10 thanks to Mt 24. They claim authority of everything. But read the scripture. At best, its directed to one congregation. If you want to take it further, each individual Christian should gather together with other Christians.

  Don't take that scripture too literally. You are experiencing fear of the superstitious as ingrained in you by the GB. Don't sweat it. If you are serious, go meet other Christians. It doesn't have to be the JW way, thats for sure!

  Being a JW is a mixed bag at best, and horrible at worse.

  It's hard not to do the "what if" thing, but I own my decisions. No one put a gun to my head. Yeah, I was lied to, and when I found out I was being lied to, I did what anyone would have done, I left.

  Those things were out of my control. I am doing my best (some days are better then others) to focus on what I can control, and what I can do.

  My new religion is pragmaticism.
