Btw, unless it is your path and mission in life to bring this to court, a lawyer will have limited value here. JW's have the legal right to disfellowship as they see fit, regardless of how immoral or unethical it can be. The United States has given all religious organizations that right.
My opinion is to not invest emotional energy in that when you can use it in other healthier ways. :)

Just a couple of thoughts from a former elder here:
They don't need you there to DF you. That doesn't mean they will. Contrary to popular belief, there is no uniform handling of these situations. It all depends on the elder body, the CO, the "desk elder" in the Service Dept at Bethel and how this whole thing was framed. I have seen situations where the potential disfellowshipping was held in abeyance, and others where you could be DF'd while not participating in the hearing.
It all depends on how this whole thing was framed by the powers that be.
As a personal opinion, I have never been in favor of going out on their terms. If you are fairly certain that they are going to have it in for you, I don't think you should worry about what they want you to do. It is all legalese bullshit they invent anyway. The only thing that matters is how you would like to go out.
The sad fact is, sometimes faders get busted. If that is the case, I highly recommend putting yourself and your needs above anyone else, even friends and family still in. This isn't a battlefield you can win on. You have to take this battle to another place to win, and that is by reclaiming your life. (which I am obviously unfamiliar with...)

Bethelites gossip. Rumor mongers mistake gossip for reform. In reality, gossip is the idle activity of the directionless. So I am not surprised that there is gossip at Bethel.
Btw, OF COURSE there are higher ups who want to change things. I got to meet a few of them. They aren't changing shit folks, and if they do one day get disfellowshipped, oh well, it happened once already in 1980. So it could happen again.

I am sooooo glad that what the Watchtower said regarding 1914 and the generation that saw it came true. I am so glad that they didn't have to change it. I am so glad that Armageddon came in 1975. Otherwise, I wouldn't be in paradise right now.

i'm not entirely sure why, but rick has been the biggest trigger for me.
i have said some very mean things to him that i regret and i apologize to rick for them.
but what he is doing leaves me feeling dirty and i don't even know him.
I agree with Terry as well. When motivated, I will call our Rick whenever he is here. I think the dichotemy he brings is actually healthy.
Plus, it's an internet community. I don't think it is a good idea to remove a poster simply because we disagree with him. That's just like JW's.
Speaking for me, I have at times got a lilttle hot under the collar regarding certain posters here. I think that reflects poorly on me, and I have made a conscious decision whenever I am here to make it a positive experience whenver I can possibly do so.
I share my opinion. If I disagree with someone and I feel I HAVE to say something, I will. If I can ignore it, I will.
Not everyone will agree with me and the reverse is true. Hopefully, I have learned the lesson to simply ignore people who annoy me. It's a rather handly tool to have. :)
I think this thought bears repeating: JW's attract a certain kind of lunatic fringe. I happened to be born into the cult thanks to parents who were not totally possessed of themselves when they bought in. There is no way to leave JW's in peace. There is no way to keep the crazy from either being attracted to JW's or trying to bring down the whole group. It's just how it has been and how it will be. We all need to be at peace with that.
Remember, if some of these crazy people didn't join JW's, they would go to another place just like them. We can't save people from themselves.

i read with great interest the evil spirits thread, amazed at the ignorance on this forum concerning the occult.. if you do not believe in the spirit world, you are certainly akin to toothless hillbillies.
good for moonshine making, cousin marrying and not much else.. both the usa and the russians continue to pursue the occult, following in the foorsteps of nazi germany.
