Serious discussion: Why our Brain cannot take us to God

we have brains and can think.. when we talk about god we leave behind material, physical sensible "things".

it is the voice of intellect not brain.

the proof is in the pudding.. the voice of god would not be mans voice.. intellect is our vehicle and it is not the atoms of a meat brain, nor vegetables nor poetry.

I am a believer in spirituality. However, I think that organized religion has totally hijacked what that should be.

There is another piece to this Terry: Unlike chef's, or musicians, there are "schools" that teach billions of people about "GOD" in some form, which prepares most people to be willing to suspend reality for the sake of their "faith".

In doing so, they also kill us all a little bit inside, because to me, we do have this need for a greater meaning in life. Organized religion has long ago realized this facet of the basic human nature and has manipulated it to their ends.

I don't mean what I say above as an attack on anyone's personal beliefs, but rather, an expression of my own. They say that the enemy of the good is the average, and the enemy of the best is the good.

We always assume as young people coming into our own that we already have the best. It was merely what we happened to be born in and around.

We do have opportunities, all of us, to examine these things and to come to our own conclusions. That is where your opinion on transendence comes into play.

I have come to my own conclusions, and one of them is, the god we talk about really shines a light more on who WE are, not on who "GOD" is.

I think our brains need to be more engaged, because data IS important. That is an important lesson for anyone who has ever had to be a JW and must now move on.

Btw, unless it is your path and mission in life to bring this to court, a lawyer will have limited value here. JW's have the legal right to disfellowship as they see fit, regardless of how immoral or unethical it can be. The United States has given all religious organizations that right.

My opinion is to not invest emotional energy in that when you can use it in other healthier ways. :)

Very sorry. I know there is no way to leave JW's in a dignified way.

Just a couple of thoughts from a former elder here:

They don't need you there to DF you. That doesn't mean they will. Contrary to popular belief, there is no uniform handling of these situations. It all depends on the elder body, the CO, the "desk elder" in the Service Dept at Bethel and how this whole thing was framed. I have seen situations where the potential disfellowshipping was held in abeyance, and others where you could be DF'd while not participating in the hearing.

It all depends on how this whole thing was framed by the powers that be.

As a personal opinion, I have never been in favor of going out on their terms. If you are fairly certain that they are going to have it in for you, I don't think you should worry about what they want you to do. It is all legalese bullshit they invent anyway. The only thing that matters is how you would like to go out.

The sad fact is, sometimes faders get busted. If that is the case, I highly recommend putting yourself and your needs above anyone else, even friends and family still in. This isn't a battlefield you can win on. You have to take this battle to another place to win, and that is by reclaiming your life. (which I am obviously unfamiliar with...)

Bethelites gossip. Rumor mongers mistake gossip for reform. In reality, gossip is the idle activity of the directionless. So I am not surprised that there is gossip at Bethel.

Btw, OF COURSE there are higher ups who want to change things. I got to meet a few of them. They aren't changing shit folks, and if they do one day get disfellowshipped, oh well, it happened once already in 1980. So it could happen again.

I am just happy that MILLIONS who lived to hear Rutherfords speech in 1919 didn't die! They lived right through Armageddon in 1975.

By the way, King David loves what used to be San Diego. It's WAY better than the middle east.

Riiight, because right now, we are living in paradise. All those who saw 1914 also saw the great tribulation and they got raptured right up. It was pretty cool to see.

At this very moment, I am wearning Khaki's and a short sleeve buttoned up shirt, and I am with my beautiful JW wife Bathsheba, who is 256 but looks 22. We keep our pet lion Montgomery in the back yard to play with Fluffy, our black sheep.

Right now, I am getting ready to go to the resurrection center to welcome back the next batch the 144,000 approved to be raised up from the 13th century. Should be a good day.

Oh yeah, we are almost through cleaning up what was left of the old system of things. The burial of 7 billion people sort of sucked, but it's a good thing that those birds Jesus sent had a healthy appetite. Carcasses must taste great!

I am sooooo glad that what the Watchtower said regarding 1914 and the generation that saw it came true. I am so glad that they didn't have to change it. I am so glad that Armageddon came in 1975. Otherwise, I wouldn't be in paradise right now.

i'm not entirely sure why, but rick has been the biggest trigger for me.

i have said some very mean things to him that i regret and i apologize to rick for them.

but what he is doing leaves me feeling dirty and i don't even know him.

I agree with Terry as well. When motivated, I will call our Rick whenever he is here. I think the dichotemy he brings is actually healthy.

Plus, it's an internet community. I don't think it is a good idea to remove a poster simply because we disagree with him. That's just like JW's.

Speaking for me, I have at times got a lilttle hot under the collar regarding certain posters here. I think that reflects poorly on me, and I have made a conscious decision whenever I am here to make it a positive experience whenver I can possibly do so.

I share my opinion. If I disagree with someone and I feel I HAVE to say something, I will. If I can ignore it, I will.

Not everyone will agree with me and the reverse is true. Hopefully, I have learned the lesson to simply ignore people who annoy me. It's a rather handly tool to have. :)

I think this thought bears repeating: JW's attract a certain kind of lunatic fringe. I happened to be born into the cult thanks to parents who were not totally possessed of themselves when they bought in. There is no way to leave JW's in peace. There is no way to keep the crazy from either being attracted to JW's or trying to bring down the whole group. It's just how it has been and how it will be. We all need to be at peace with that.

Remember, if some of these crazy people didn't join JW's, they would go to another place just like them. We can't save people from themselves.

People who are attracted to, and support Rick Fearon, do me a great service, as I now know who to stay the hell away from!

i read with great interest the evil spirits thread, amazed at the ignorance on this forum concerning the occult.. if you do not believe in the spirit world, you are certainly akin to toothless hillbillies.

good for moonshine making, cousin marrying and not much else.. both the usa and the russians continue to pursue the occult, following in the foorsteps of nazi germany.

they are not ignorant people, such as yourselves.. hopefully, you non-believers will slowly breed yourselves out of the population, since you are the ones holding back progress, with your precious "science" which is really bullshit in disguise.. so tell me, what separates you "intellectuals" from those so called ancient ignorants?
