  Oh great. these kinds of things attract crazies. Ratings matter, so they'll make a judgment call on who will draw more sound bites for ratings. Hopefully the producers will be intelligent enough to sort through the high volume, low IQ candidates.

  Baltar, if they're doing this, the asked the legal department first before praying about it. Bethel elders for years commented on those scriptures. I guess I'm just used to the Knorr era rules. I keep forgetting g this is the rebooted GB 2.0

  Wow. Think of all the COs on a power trip. If you thought the greeven handshake didn't mean anything before, watch out....

  wonder if this is true, will COs have to keep a duplicate of all the men they appoint for their records? Bigger paper trails await.

  With all the liability issues the GB has to deal with, and apostates. Etc, why give up veto power?

  i do know the service desk rubber stamps most of them and the COs rule the day. So if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

  Guess that means the other rumor about the CO arrangement going away from a few years ago is officially debunked. ;)

  Letters to the Body of Elders (BOE) - Change in Letterhead

  within the last few hours, two separate posters, watchtower87 and pixel, independently posted news of a april 22nd, 2014 letter to the boe regarding a change in how elders are to be appointed and deleted:.

  they are both from "the governing body of jehovah's witnesses" and not from "the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses.".

  This is unusual. I doubt both sources. I strongly suggest to take this with a grain of salt.

  this goes against a tradition of strict control. There's no good reason for the GB to do this. None.

  Great blog and nicely Put.

  Its a a difficult lesson to learn that there are certain kinds of people who will always look for certain things that fit their personality. Some people are looking for the world to end because they don't like the world. I remember at Gilead a sister was interviewed, a missionary, who said she did not miss being "in the world at all." It struck me that I was with a group of people you just simply didn't like majority of normal people in the world. I think all Jehovah's Witnesses who are serious about this religion are like that. They don't fit in, or don't want to fit in. They are malcontents. All they want is to have companionship with a group who feels the same way.

  That way, instead of having their stupid thinking challenged, they can be around a bunch of head nodders to reinforce their defective thinking.

  There is no changing someone else. It's hard enough to change yourself. It's harder still to find a genuine circle of friends who feel and can agree with some things you believe. I wish the human race could get wise to the idea that agreement and companionship is not as important as growing and learning and taking more people into your circle. Jehovah's Witnesses and groups like them are designed to keep anyone or anything that disagrees out.

  of course, some people like to stay stuck in the little rut they are in. They never leave the county. Don't ever read anything that disagrees with their emotionally charged beliefs. These are the people that don't change the world. They get left behind. Waiting for the world to end while their curmudgeonly little life passes them by.

  it's going to be embarrassing for a lot of Jehovah's Witnesses when 2014 passes. Then it turns into 2024. The world will still be here. And probably a lot of people who may leave Jehovah's Witnesses will just simply go to the next cult that encourages them not to join polite society.

  Great treatment. With GB 2.0 (are we up to version 2.1 now?) they have a tradition to uphold, the tradition of typology. Typology typically means looking for relationships between OT & NT characters. The GB has stretched that to apply it to the 19-21st century existence of JWs.

  this article makes Freddy "the oracle" Franz seem readable. There are no conclusions. These are assertions. This is a bible story that history can barely prove true from archaeology. Obviously, not all of it is true. It's a fable that through an accident of history, got picked up by the powers that be and is now given senseless devotion because it is lumped in a book that is thought if as the unerring word of god.

  From the JW point of view, all articles and teachings reinforce the power and agenda of the GB. This power is expressed through the elders. There's actually nothing complicated about this at all.

  I personally look back on my experiences, and my biggest lesson is this: Be a student of everything, but be no man or groups disciple. Always check out when you are asked to trade in yourself for someone else's agenda.

  how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?

  it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

  And if either side stays or goes because of this thread, your life will continue to suck.

  Otherwise, have some internet fun with this piñata of a troll. Just don't aim for his head, nothing will come out.

  CO overruling elders on appointments

  if a brother wants to reach out to be elder, yet brothers are holding him back for dubious reasons, can/should a brother approach the co and ask him what he needs to be done to be appointed or perhaps having a discussion along the lines of why the elders are holding him unfairly back.

  anybody have any experiences along these lines?

  is this a good strategy?

  Every elder body is different. Whether that was part of the plan or not, there is no consistency with bodies of elders, beyond certain dogmatic basics. And even then, the dynamic will change based on BOE chosen variables like "mercy", "justice", "zeal", etc.
