  The upside of atheism

  i realize whether you believe in god or the non-existence of god it has to be taken on faith since both positions are unknowable and unprovable.

  however, i can understand faith in god as basically a hope for something better.

  i can also understand agnosticism; admitting it's unknowable but still leaving the door open (perhaps the only intellectually honest option).

  Paul, I am not an atheist, but very much an atheist sympathizer. I can tell you that the only thing atheists ever seem to have in common is their own realizations and belief that god doesn't exist.

  Thats not faith. It's a fair point. Where is he? Thats what atheists ask? No one can find him! Ok. No faith necessary.

  Perhaps this discussion will help you to learn that faith isn't something that atheists use when it comes to god. To say it is an act of faith to not believe god exists is to presume he does without validating evidence.

  In any case, just wanted to weigh in.

  I can't speak for him, but suffice to say, it can be a very draining experience to go into detail about JW's, esp if you had "privileges", such as actually kissing GB ass. Those are memories best left for your shrink.

  Sometimes, it gets to be too much personally and you need a break. I hope he is taking good care of himself.

  Limbaugh's racism isn't linked to any minority he hires, its related to his rhetoric. He also has taken pot shots on Michael J Fox and his Parkinsons, so I know he is an equal opportunity dick.

  BTW, before I invite conservative scorn, I realize that Limbaugh does not represent all of consevatives. It's just that right now, all conservatives are residing in the substantial shadow cast by his rather large @$$.

  millions affected.. how many prayed in vain to stop the quaking, keep a loved one from dying, or for saftey?

  My wife and I were talking about this today. Haiti needs to develop a tourist industry like the Bahamas or Jamaica. Unfortunately, Baby Doc Duvalier (sp) ran that country into the ground, and they have never recovered.

  Their only hope is tourism. There is no industry (esp now) and they need to change the worlds image so that Western currency can flow again.

  New Songbook: Pedantic Piano Practise?

  ok, the new songbook has gotten rid of some pretty awful lyrics about molested bees and nazarites, etc.

  but after listening to several of the songs played at the kingdumb hall, all the songs started ------ to-------sound--------like-------this.

  one careful paused note per syllable as if the whole songbook was published to help teach children learn how to play piano.. we can't expect "amazing grace" from these hacks, i guess.

  Who Would Have Joined The Facebook Group When They Were In?

  i know some of us are having fun reading and commenting on the watchtower facebook page and it got me wondering how many of us would have joined it when were in.. i know i would certainly not have.

  i was never what you would call a spiritual witness.

  i only stayed in as my friends were are witnesses and really went for the social aspect.

  Oh no, there are a ton of guilty consciences there, hiding behind fake names. They know better. This might be a fertile way to help JW's on the internet and expose them to the truth about da troof.

  i received this via a face book pm from the group christian witness fellowship:.

  also near the end of the show, richard rawe says "something extra big" is about to happen that will take watchtower "down," something bigger even than their pedophile scandal and the u.n. connections scandal put together.

  he says he can't spill the beans yet, but the something is definitely coming.

  Not me. I might have been the @$$hole elder who were skoping for names.

  Conversley, if that ever came up as an elder, I would have tilted toward lieniency if ever a publisher got caught on facebook. I was tired of the witch hunt mentality that many elders have. As if they have nothing better to do.

  Sounds good. I didn't perceive you as a bigot or I might have been more aggresive in my response. I appreciate your frankness.

  I would ask you, please, to reconsider your stance on homosexuallity being a disorder. Whether you realize it or not, it is hurtful and not progressive.

  Having said that, rebel8's thread is about the absurdity of the JW position, something we all agree on.
